Basic rules

No doubt - we Indians don't have much of cellphone etiquette, but then, we don't have much of ANY etiquette ;-D. As for me, I put it on silent in theaters, listen to music on my headphones (and NOT through the speakers), decide when it is inappropriate to answer a call (or take it outside instead), shut it off in aeroplanes, talk softly while in public and NEVER, NEVER use it while driving. But. I use the phone extensively for calls, messages and email, surfing the net, checking the weather, using GPS to navigate in unfamiliar areas and a ton of other things. Today, the cellphone is truly indispensable.

Good way to find what customer think

This is not a survey of mobile habits. This is a plane mobile user survey for some mobile company. But as i see the poll result so far, its bad news for a mobile operator or any mobile company.

Cell Phone Manners of Hindustanis
by ravi iyer on Sep 16, 2010 03:55 PM  | Hide replies

We Hindustani's definitely lack far beyond others in etiquettes and manners in using a mobile phone in public places.

People who come to attend a funeral keep their phones blaring with funny ring tones.

People while travelling in Trains and buses keep on talking as if they are going to save the globe with their talks...

The same thing happens in hospitals...

We must educate our people at least to behave sensibly not to avoid any inconvinience to others,...

Sometimes because of wanting to use the allotted FREE ON Net minutes, people keep on talking whoever in same phone network, otherwise would feel like money already paid was wasted.

Another place is the flight. People just don't care of the instructions given in the flight or by the air hostess & have their mobiles switched on or keep talking as though their entire organization depends on them & the call or his/her entire business depends on this call.
Shame on the educated illiterates.

Happens even in kingfisher, the air hostess keeps shouting not to switch on the phone but people are very desperate to tell their loved once they have landed. u never know how many keep it turned on the whole flight as there wouldn't be any signal for other to know that its on.

And some, who had bought a mobile for the first time, play songs with loudspeaker on, in buses or in shops/restaurants as if he is entertaining the whole crowd. What he doesn't know is that that flat sound irritates more and he making a dumb ass of himself.
