First of all you pay heavy income tax about 33 percent of your income in India and further when you spend this your pay another tax in the form of service tax or expenditure or luxary tax or if invest in property again you pay service tax to builder is it not double taxation the public and everybody from finance must protest against it. Further you loose heavily by way of inflation in double digit loosing your purchasing power. It is nothing but like putting dacoity on the public at large and why cannot our law make understand it and reduce there administration expenditure instead of taxing public at large
Its original vision was to SIMPLIFY Taxation, but Pranab Mukherjee failed to do that - and it is not significantly different from current Taxation regime. Its a SHAME.

Yes. But my Form 16 shows 27000. They just sent a check of 5000. I enquired, but no response. can anyone please guide me?

file a letter U/s. 154 & ask them to rectify the mistake. enclose copy of form 16 alongwith letter

Re-check 1. how much tax you had to pay. 2 How much you have actually paid and 3.How much is due for return. In case the refund due is more than what you got (i.e.Rs.5000) then lodge a complaint with IT department.
