Excellent Phone
by thoughts flow on Oct 19, 2010 10:11 AM

I'm using this phone for the last 3 months. I must say this is an excellent phone, the touch sensitivity, the display, call clarity, wi-fi, almost all features are excellent. I love this phone. Unfortunately its not available, sad that Samsung is not ddoing anything abt it.

Samsung Wave II
by vaibhav dalavi on Oct 10, 2010 12:34 PM  | Hide replies

I am waiting for Samsung Wave II, which will probably release in India end of this year or so. All the features are in tact with II, adding Swype text, also KEY difference is:

3.7' Super Clear LCD screen - I'm not aware what does this Super Clear means, but yeah hoping it would be better than Super AMOLED Wave screen.

Its appr cost is around 25K, worth a wait I guess.

Actually Super AMOLED is the superior of the two, its crispier and clear and displays black as true black, not dark gray. And due to the shortage of SAMOLED only, Wave's production has been discontinued.

To compensate for the loss of a superior screen quality, they have added a 3.7" screen, otherwise both the phones are exactly same in specs.

ALSO, about the Swype thing, its actually a better version of Swype called T9-Trace by Nuance. And FYI, Bada 1.2 is going to be made available for Wave I as well. So there is going to be Swype aka T9-Trace in Wave I too. The firmware is leaked too, check on youtube. :)

These are the reasons I'm wondering why there is so much increment in the retail price. Its almost 8000/- INR expensive, with nothing new. I'll say, its like Wave I has now become a Limited Edition phone. :D

Though New BADA looks Promosing
by manas padegaonkar on Oct 07, 2010 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

Hi Guys,

I am using this phone from last 2 months & its really an amazing gadget with full of exciting features & applications which can be downloaded from Samsung Application Store & the best thing is that most of them are free. The application store has something new everyday to download it on your mobile.

The phone is the best prized in its category & is available between 16.5k to 17.5k based on your negotiating skills. I bought it at the price of 17k

In last 3 months I have upgraded the firmware twice without any problem & got many application enhanced.

Samsung Mobile Service is now much better what it was in their earlier days & thats why its giving a tough competition to Nokia in the Smartphone market. Nokia mobiles are only enjoying their status in Indian Subcontinent that too only in basic handsets market but when it comes to smartphones, Samsung,SE, HTC are far ahead. In rest of Asia & Europe the scenario is against Nokia.

Finally its a customer benefit because of the cut throat competition between the mobile manufacturers to increase their sales volume by providing handsets in competitive price. :)

lol you can't judge battery life by the name of the "company". This model here, Wave has a 1500mAh battery to power all that hardware, and it has a meaning.

Warranty thing - You mean they are set to get dead after exactly 1 year from the purchase date? lol

How would u compare it to Nokia E72 and the features?

Hello Hemangi,

Wave is a touch-screen phone and E72 is not. So, I guess the comparison is not really justified. Also, Wave's 1ghz processor, a dedicated graphics processor and 512MB RAM alone simply makes it way too advanced.. :)

Android is much much mature coz of its age compared to Bada..

I got a HTC Wildfire a couple months back for one of my friends, and Android is definitely way advanced than Bada..

Hi.

I have been using the HTC Legend which has an aluminium body and Android OS. Just today, I realised that paid apps are also available in India. The sheer magnitude and quality of the apps market in Android beats the Wave. Although someone who does not use apps may be better off using the wave because of the superior screen and certain simple features.

Pertinently since Android is a Google product, the availability of google applications makes life pretty convenient which is not the case with the BADA.

haha.. I really wish Samsung would had paid me for this. oh well.. :D

I run a personal tech site/forum and give genuine reviews for the products I buy after a lot of R&D. Its just one of my hobbies. :)

Two questions for you:-

1. How do you know it is a bad product? How do you define a bad product?

2. Worst product? Do you own a Wave? lol :D

Samsung no way
by rohit agarwal on Oct 06, 2010 06:45 PM  | Hide replies

Samsung phones are made to work only for a year & once your warranty expires so does your phone. Samsung service for mobiles is pathetic. They will always cite only one reason "Water has entered the phone". Nice trick which can always work. He need not prove you anything for that. You cannot update the phone software online (not very sure). You need to pay extra bucks at service center for the same. Is it possible to reload the software of your phone by yourself???

Yes, and its made very easy via software called Samsung Kies, just like you have Nokia PC Suite for Nokia phones.

Also, with the upcoming 1.2 Bada OS, FOTA (Firmware over the air) would be enabled. :)

Re: Very Good phone

1. Nokia N8 is going to be pricey than Wave. Its definitely going to be not less than 25K INR, whereas Wave is just 17.5K INR.

2. Wave has a Ghz processor and 512MB RAM. N8 has not.

3. N8 has Symbian 3 OS, which is said (rumored) to be the last phone with Symbian 3 OS, as Nokia is focusing more on its upcoming Meego OS in collaboration with Intel.

3. Wave has Super AMOLED display, which is undoubtedly the crispiest display on the market today.

4. Although N8 has a 12mpx camera with Xenon flash. But on comparing pictures between the phones, there was hardly any difference. The picture resolution is high in N8 definitely, but the screen resolution is lower at just 360x640 unlike Wave's 480x800. N8 has .2" bigger screen!

5. N8 can record 720p vids at 25fps, whereas Wave can record 720p vids at 30fps. N8 has HDMI out though, and Wave has normal TV-out (VGA).

6. Wave has a much larger 1500mAh battery, N8 has just 1200mAh..

And a lot more....

About N8 versus Wave comparison

1)Price-Cant comment, Might be true

2)Processor-These are just numbers, doesnt really tell you anything about the performance, Symbian is a much mature OS and will not need a rocket for a processor

3)There are still lots of symbian 3 and later phones coming.

4)True, Wave display is fantastic, But its amoled on N8 as well, thats should be pretty slick as well

4)N8 will beat the wave Camera hands down, Look up the current shootouts available online

5)True

6)Numbers again, I am sure the N8 will outlast the wave on battery because of symbian.
