Is the satellite program offered by AIMA better for a technical executive having more than 5 years of work experience?

Most expensive in the world
by katy on Oct 05, 2010 08:59 AM

If compared in rupee terms all such executive MBA 's are most expensive in the world 2-5 lakh a year for what . Waste of money no growth in job prospects or placements . If a loan is taken it is much more expensive . Better put money to better use . It is a sham /fraud on few unsuspecting people.

Anyway one does not learn anything in MBA degree at all it is a fad

In the right place, it is a short cut to upper management positions.

But in India, every degree ultimately gets diluted simply by the volume of people who hold it.

In another 10-15 years, there will be MBAs like B.Com graduates.

This is all about money honey!!!!!!!!!!!!

E-MBA is definitely about making money only from both the sides, working execs and the Institutions. E-MBA costs around 16-20 lacs (12-15L fess other expenditures). If this education is so much costly then students can never think about gaining knowledge only, they will have to think about a great placement first then add-ons. Other wise who is going to repay to the bank. If somebody is really concerned about "placement vs knowledge" then please ask institutes to reduce the fees to 3-4 lacs.

1 yr MBA costs are very high
by Himanshu Saxena on Oct 04, 2010 01:07 PM

1 yr MBA costs much more than a traditional 2 yr MBA course. Almost every B-school charges in the tune of 10-20 lacs except SP Jain, Mumbai, which is charging around 5.5 lacs. With such high fees and associated opportunity costs, students start looking for high paying jobs immediately after MBA. Focus shifts from studies and learnings to placements! I believe 1st and foremost reason of going to any academic institute should be to maximize the learning in given timeframe. For that B-schools should also look into reducing the high fee structure, which they have designed specifically for 1 yr courses. A guy passing out of ISB or IIM-A cant even think of sitting for 3 months searching for a job post MBA. From day-1, he has to start repaying the huge education loan which he had taken to finance his 1 yr course. Also it is easier to say that jobs will be easier for these guys! Its a myth. They also have to compete with the best in the market.

why Only Money is prime concern in our mind
by sumit srivastava on Oct 04, 2010 11:17 AM

Why we feel the Management means only money. I am agree the Executive MBA is value add for professionals.
I am engineer and i want to go for Executive MBA. But the reason behind is I want to learn the art of marketing, i want to learn the how do business with ethics, honesty and how to move ahead with giving great respect to country and humanity. If you think all these points then you will feel the Money is only fraction of achievement.
I am sure the question is coming in your mind , in that case i am not suitable for business.
But I am sure the coming generation will definitely miss the the Ratan Tata type businessman who help the group to grow with honesty and with human ethics.

ROI on Exec MBA
by mayank dev on Oct 04, 2010 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

Well, these armchair management practitoner, should understand when a MBA participant spends 18 lakh as fees and loses around 10 lakh as opportunity cost the least which they can do is to facilitate is that a decent career transition. Its high time that they should start practicing consumer(students) need fulfillment, which they teach in class.

I agree with with mayanks comment and endorse that least the institutes can do is suitablly use their placement director to bring in companies of various mix which then could give a chance to the students who donot get a first class .
We must have courses which have alateral learning and earning system like IGTC which conducts a course in Mumbai .

Rational Behind for a MAD rush
by Sanjeev Sharma on Oct 04, 2010 10:13 AM

I agree with Prof. Ganesh. But from student perspective, huge course fee (most of its part from Bank loan), increased personal libilities, multiple loans and poor course design force them to run behind the placements. I have seen student's motivation in the last term and even worst when they missed out the placement week (rather placement month). No one really wants to take-up risk if your course fee opportunity cost is very high.
Also, from Institute perspective, most of the Indian Management Colleges failed to provide a structured course which really enabled the student to focus on just study part. Just for the name sake, 2 months or lesser Internship program is being introduced. I strongly feel that there should be concurrent Intern program through out the course, which should be designed for leveraging students knowledge(acquired during MBA program) and his/her own experience. There should be enough consultancies jobs alongwith the course modules which should take care of the course fee and other expenses. Most of the college behaves these student as a kindergarten student and keep loading theories which are way behind from the actual practises in industries. Hardly any close industry interactions have been facilitated by institutes apart from few expert lectures or conference.
In west (even in china) good institutes have been instrumental in a prviding a very practical MBA program for Executive. Which essentially does not require a placement week at all.

A management course for the executive
by raman govindan on Oct 04, 2010 09:55 AM

"Management course for the executive is not the place for trying something new or exploring your inner calling. This is a place to add value to what they were doing or their existing field of expertise."

that is an apt description.
