Nature and karma are cruel
by Devdutt Nayak on Nov 24, 2010 05:17 PM

Imagine for a moment, that Mother Nature exists.

If you find that difficult, imagine Bharat Mata, to get a good idea of what Mother Nature would look like.

You see, Mother Nature has a food chain.

Big animals eat smaller animals.

That is the basic food chain shown in school books.

There exists another food chain not so obvious -
the many eat the few.

Ants, piranhas, scavengers, bacteria and so on.

If we eat meat, we form part of the bigger-eat-smaller section of the food chain.

When we get diseases and die or fall sick, bacteria and germs eat away at the expense of our health, and if not medicated, of our life itself.

If Karma exists, then surely Mother Nature knows of it, and probably implements a part of it.

From a neutral point of view, Mother Nature would not see a big difference between child A eating child B and child B eating child A.

That is, if you eat meat, you can expect Mother Nature to remain neutral when animals or lower beings eat you.

No, this is not logical, scientific or anything like that. This is just to give perspective.

Nature has no qualms if men eating non-veg die because of Cardio Vascular Diseases.

For a variety of reasons, including feeling the animals' pain, effects on climate, effects on ones hormones, it seems unwise to eat meat.

Least of all, after eating eggs, chicken and goats for years, do not expect Nature to be kind and partial to you!
