we have a joker at the top position in India
by GeorgeBush on Nov 24, 2010 11:18 AM  | Hide replies

CSIR DG, Samir is the top scientist in India. But he is considered as Joker at the international level. This year in Boston, he was invited to address on Open source DD. He said Indian Masters student is doing the work of NIH scientists. The America settled Indians were so curious to listen to his talk. By his buffoonery statements, they ran out of the hall. This is one example for the standards of Indian scientists.

the two papers of shubha
by GeorgeBush on Nov 23, 2010 05:48 PM  | Hide replies

look at the two papers science and nature referred in the above article. they are not necessarily done in India. almost all the great scientists in India, ask them to list their best contributions in science. they will proudly list the best contributions, that were done in abroad. not in india. when they are independent, their output is 3rd rated. i mean the top 5% of indian scientists are 3rd rated at the international level. then u can infer easily that we have 95% garbage scientists.

Well, a few opinions:
First...Bhatnagar is the most prestigious award given to scientists in India for their work done in India (not abroad). The papers of Dr. tole in nature and science are done in collaboration with scientists in abroad. the fact that she has been a co-corresponding authors in both these high profile journals means that significant amount of work had been carried out in India. Besides, there are other Indian authors too in those papers. These awards still have a good value all though many a times they have been denied to people who deserved but never has been there a case where it was given to someone who dint deserve. There are junk scientists all over the world (just as in any other profession!)But there is no justification in someone claiming that India's top notch scientists are equal to 3rd rate chinese scientists. Its absurd, immature, ridiculous, and totally baseless.
There are quite many institutes in India who are doing very good research of international standard. I only request that before someone write something in a public forum, kindly check your facts. And the reference to Thomas Reuteurs is yet another crap.

Bhatnagar award is given to the top scientists of india. yes, noone denies that. you did not get the point. they are the best in India. but their international position is equal to the third rated scientists of China. please keep that in mind. if you do not know this fact, you may have a false impression that they are the best in the world too. the indian top scientists are like Indian foot ball team or indian basket ball team. Indian top basket ball team will easily be defeated by US college team. Indian foot ball team can be defeated by any small club team in europe. But I do not deny the indian foot ball team members, that they are the best in India.

come to the facts. look at the indian authors publication index. the top notch scientists of india rank at the 3rd rated scientists of China. let us not compare with western scientists. even china' 3rd rated would be better than indian greats. accept the fact. if u wanna know subscribe the thomson database on authors and u will get the plain facts.

@dinesh, Another Lallu P Yadav in making. Thomson Reuters is yet another crap?? really! Lallu did not believe in exit polls. He said it is crap. You know the fate. Thomson' author index data is the most comprehensive and complete. Even if you say it is crap then one may argue that the following, that is, even the crap system is putting the Indian top scientists parallel to the third rated scientists of China.

How much are you rated among human beings? Not the first I am sure, you must be occupying a very lowly number. So I suggest you should cease to exist?
