What is wrong with Rediff why can't it focus on substance rather than style.

The American 1st lady
by rajiv khurrana on Nov 09, 2010 10:04 PM

Besides the styling & her wardrobe she is a very humble person which both president Obama & the 1st lady has demonstrated that they are & what they stand for.

Is Obama and Mrs Obama a worthy topic
by veldandi swapna on Nov 09, 2010 09:10 PM

They came for their business, they got it done They are not here for social service, y entire media is making soo much of gaga about it When will we start talking about real contributors to the society. She is not simple but a fashion conscious lady. She may be presidents wife of America, so what. India is not a slavery country for them.

Mrs. Obama is a fantastic lady !
by Javed Khan on Nov 09, 2010 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

If the Obamas’ visit to India is partly about soft power, no one characterised it better than first lady Michelle Obama. She charmed the city with her spontaneity, warmth and her dancing skills. This ability to connect at such personal levels with strangers is an important part of American public life. But it is largely alien to us in India, where our leaders tend to be aloof and thrive on their “VIP” status.
She played the consummate political wife. But when unaccompanied, she came into her own and touched lives with her smile and her candour. It was also clear that she was a strong, independent woman who was not averse to pulling her husband’s leg in public, especially when she asked Mumbai’s students to ask Obama tough questions. Part of Michelle Obama’s appeal is that she is real. This is a rare quality for someone in the public eye to possess and certainly, in today’s in-your-face media world, she sets an example for other politicians and their families to follow. As India’s politicians get younger, perhaps we will also more humanity and less arrogance.
