a very well written article which aptly defines the feelings of an expat without demeaning the country in which he is residing by acknowledging the dynamic liberty that it provides.

Even the diaspora in the Gulf celebrates Diwali with much fanfare. There in Krishna Temple here in Bahrain with a compound which can accommodate anywhere between 200 to 300 people and people of different languages celebrate inside the premises.

So correct. Why don't these people reminiscing about India so much while enjoying the comforts of a rich country come and live in India for a change.

Diwali celebrations.

If American indians are afraid of celebrating Diwali then they should come to London to do so.
London Diwali is only second to Diwali in India and there is no bar on any thing except that fire crackers are not allowed and are not even allowed to be sold.
This came about from English celebration of Guy Fawkes when English people celebrated by lighting a huge bonfire and a controlled display firework then there are fools in every community and British have plenty of them some of them started throwing crackers in fire which eventualy moved to throwing them on people and in the cars with open windows at traffic light.
Lot of people especially children were hurt and eventually a total ban was imposed.
But Diwali is one of the best in whole Europe, perhaps any where in the world outside India.
