Devdutt Nayak
I versus we
by Devdutt Nayak on Nov 04, 2010 12:18 AM

India we do things this way.

In America, I do things this way.

Read about Devdutt Pattanaik's talk on the huge gap between Eastern and Western cultures.

Eastern cultures are called high-context cultures, and Greco-Roman, Western European, now American, are low-context cultures.

Very nice talk, don't miss it.

The article presents in insight into the mechanical life of NRI's but, today i can sense the same happening in Indian urban culture too... Socializing is shrinking and its more of a virtual connect.. The irony is .. one is flooded with numerous "so called" friends on social n/w sites but internally one can't even have a glimpse of a single friendly soul... I would call it as EMOTIONAL ROBOTIZATION in every sphere of life!!
