It's disturbing - the kind of negativity that this story has generated; some of the comments are totally unrelated to the issues at hand. What matters is that thirty deserving aspirants from underprivileged families now have a chance of realising their dreams, thanks to a selfless venture that is sadly too rare in our country. What we need are more stories like this, more students and more ventures. I am anti-reservations myself, but I believe it is wrong to denigrate the achievements of these children because some or even all might have made it through the quota system.

Getting into iit is not a big thing now particularly for those who have reservations as iits can now be compared with normal collages as they lack infrastructure and good faculties. what matters is whether they got top ranks or not. whether they got good iits like delhi mumbai kanpur or not. Mr. Anand should also teach some general candidates as they are also poor, some of them sometimes unable to purchase books, they dont get any help from govt. so please take some general candidates as they may also be poor sometimes.
If anyone like anand sir dos any good, mistr athist like ppl will be there to pull down. shame you mstr athist. you must hv copyied but cud not get in IIT. shame. so u jelus.
If you guys pay the right price to media, you shall be highlighted in media as you wish that is what happening. Nobody investigates the fact. Like Mr. Chavvan of Maharashtra spent hardly 5000 Rs. on his compaign but sectretly he had spent crores of rupees on media for publishing about him. Mr. Anand Kumar does the same to get 3000 students for his coaching which gives return approx. 2 crores of rupees.

to be very frank atheist is correct.. i myself have qualified jee this year. i was selected in super 30 .. but it was simply not good. wot i was to do was to study with 100 students and then on d day of result super 30 was to be formed and fees was to returned by him. This is the naked truth if u want to accept then accept else live in imaginary world.. noone can do anything

i totally i agree. i myself have known this..i hav qualified jee this year.. I was selected in super 30 . but the condition was i had to study in grp of 200 student , wot they do is that they select 200 students and the super 30 is formed on the day of result

Mr. Atheist, I think you have provided enough info. before the readers of such trailing comments but do you think that Super 30 or Anand Kumar or his 3000 students batch will be affected with all these comments!! Yes, you might be true at some points like figuring out the facts of results of 3000 students besides Super 30, but you shouldn't doubt over that whatever is the category. This is the reason ,it's SUPER 30 & not SUPER 3000. You must look at the initiative that is giving good results further onwards. Yes, it is good that hidden info. must come before all of us but then what you are doing for other poor aspirants preparing for IIT like exams or others, it must also be clear before all of we readers so that the truth can be supported. offcourse, you are a well settled IITian from Bihar but is there any contribution towards any good initiative for the better results of Bihar??? Please bring such facts also before the media & readers.

my son had much better ranking then his other course mates in IIT -jee ,but they got selected via OBC quota. getting selected via dalit qouata is no merrit none of the world countries have this system

America has something called affirmative action. I am not sure about other countries. Bcoz the situation of the african americans is close to that of our backward castes 3000 years of hegemony in the name of merit.

the reservation if there should be based on economic status . and sure u would have heard census being done on caste basis the affirmative action in america closed quiet early.
How many of those who will get admitted to IITs will work as engineers or technologists? ZILCH. Most of them will go on to specialise in all kinds of non-tech areas from banking, HR, finance and whatever pays most. Many will also go on to coach students into getting into IITs. So what is the use of IITs?

@abhinav- Problem is they are spending public money. I said that clearly. IITs were meant to produce engineers not marketing gurus, HR people, bankers and such stuff. The best brains in the country need to be in technology, science etc not in marketing, finance, HR- that is the problem.

If all intelligent people go for engineering and technology, there will be intellectual void in other areas. Its good that IITians are performing good in other areas too. Trust me, most of the toppers go for MS/PhD in engineering fields only.

Thats the reason why we are lagging in R&D based technologies. There are very few who are in this field and most of the companies are outsourcing and service based which are dependent on other countries. Anyhow now the situation is good and the Gov. should look inti this matter.

First of all the promoter of the coaching institute named as above, Mr Anand Kumar started his teaching career in 1995 from ACUMEN (for IITJEE), Patna. The coaching institute was a big name during mid 90s for IITJEE training. However Mr. Anand Kumar could not become impressive teacher in the institute and finally was bound to leave the same. Eventually he started his own coaching institute named RAMANUJAN SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS and started to lure nos. of students advertising free tution. He used to charge just 10Rs. for part of mathematics so that huge nos of students could turn up and form a big batch. It was matter of just 10 Rs. so there was a huge response and formed a very sizeable batch of 400….if once such batch of this size is formed in Patna teacher has not to look back for finding students. In general there is though pseudo impression among patnaite students that big batch means teacher is excellent. Similar impression one can find in the field of medical practices as well. Big que of patients at a clinic means doctor is excellent and of high repute(so nowadays doctors also hire brokers into remote areas, collect large nos. of patients and earn fame in no time). By adopting such strategy, Mr. Anand Kumar was quite successful and gradually increased his tution fees to Rs. 50, then 200 and so on….now over Rs. 5000 per student. Currently he teaches over 3000 students and make money whopping sum over Rs. 1.5 crore per annum.

Once again to stabilize his business, he formed another strategy and started SUPER 30 batch in 2004 by collecting bright students from patna not from remote areas as claimed. Of course he offered free lodging and boarding but it is matter of just 8 months. The fact behind the SUPER 30 batch is as following. He, Mr. Anand Kumar sells lot of forms at the cost of Rs.10 to thousand of students in the name conducting entrance test for SUPER 30 batch and make huge money. Then he conducts the tests and selects maximum bright students from SC/ST category so that result could be guaranteed in IITJEE as SC/ST category students enjoy the previledge of reservation. These students are placed in one lodge and given free food from September to april, just 8 months. Assuming Rs. 2000 per head per month total cost for this project comes around 4.8 lacs that is too small in respect of 1.2 crores what he makes from his coaching centre. In return the small amount gives him huge media hype and helps him retaining his big name. There is no serious tution in SUPER 30 batch…you can inquire into this matter by asking directly to students. Mr. Abhyanand who claims he teaches the students, you can ask directly to the students how many classes he use to take.

Meanwhile he recalled his old pal Mr. Abhyanand(IPS) with whom he got much access to media and since then became almost successful in deceiving media. Meanwhile he started to spread the news claiming he use to go to USA to deliver lectures on mathematics…he is young mathematician of bihar……and so on. Please note that this is far distant from the fact. Can you imagine the person who is not able to speak Hindi well, how he can deliver such lecture in English and addressing people from all over the world. Further to do research into any paper, someone needs lot of dedication and plenty of time, he/she should publish research journals and should engage in teaching high level mathematics. How he can do research by offering his much time in teaching 10 2 students and making money and running behind media. Not only that he adds further greatest lie to his big list that he had got the admission offer into Cambridge Univ. and could not get admission there due to lack of money. I would like to request you, media why don’t you ask him to show the valid admission offer and get it verified from Cambridge. At the outset, please ask his qualifications, see his certificates and verify.

Even if the hidden agenda is sth else, how does it matter to you? At least he is doing sth. Please devote your time in sth constructive. This kind of attitude will lead to nowhere.
