Famville and Other Social Networking Sites (SNS)/Games
by SV on May 17, 2010 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

Problem with these SNS and Games is the checks and balances. The games are designed such that you keep thinking about the game and how to increase your points, ranking etc. I was a mafia wars addict and all the time hooked on to the game. Mobiles with Internet does not help either..I really was become a virtual being trying to stay online 24X7... All my self control barriers were knocked down...One off day, i thought about it and de activated my FB account. Later on, I deleted it. I could not tell you the relief I got.
For keeping in touch with people - I call them, visit them or use gtalk. I am much more happy these days sans the thought to grow my mafia etc. and also saved from crap people post on their walls (even I was one of them). Slowly, I stopped using twitter, orkut, buzz and other SNS I was hooked on to.
It was kinda extreme but I feel no void in life without SNS.

Popular social networking websites such as Facebook have been blamed for the rise in cases of syphilis as members go for unprotected s*x with partners they meet on the Internet.

Official figures showed a four-fold increase in the UK in cases of potentially-lethal syphilis.

well, no one invited to read this "crap". It was ur choice.

If this was so crap, u not only read it but stayed back and "invested" to put a comment. That says a lot.

times were better in the late 80s..when people just hung out most and lived pretty happily..with just basic tv and a landline...
those were the times... no excess communication or information..
all these countless channels, internet and cellphones have increased communication but sadly destroyed basic bonding.. these 3 things have changed people into completely different beings...
will always cherish the amazing times without the existence of cable tv, internet and cell phones..

These will help only if you are not working

Companies should filter out these sites during office hours if they are not yet. Most of the companies do the same. If you waste your time only for Farmville, where you will get time to improve yourself? Addiction always is a disease that should be treated immediately

Few months back I saw a news about a Korean couple who got addicted to some kind of game like this. They had a new born kid and they never bothered to take care of the kid and give it proper food. Husband and wife will be busy playing the game and gave the kid food only rarely and finely the lost the kid.....
So get rid of this addiction asap and take care of your kid properly...
(I didnt want to offend anyone. Just wanted to advice.)

Facebook is addictive,
by Causarhina on May 15, 2010 04:06 AM

I have seen lovely intelligent people becoming blooming idiots.... !Farmville, fishville, etc. I have seen mothers neglect / shun their little ones, who crave some attention, They are being brushed aside so that they can go virtual farming!!
Its got some sort of subliminal opiate I think.
