Does rediff get paid by Facebook???
by Champaklal Keswani on May 14, 2010 08:18 PM

Seems Rediff has no growth model, besides Rediff ads dont seem to be generating revenue for them. Its really sad to see Rediff which has its own social networking kind of poor dirty cousin of FB, marketing FB, orkut and twitter shamelessly

It has become a Status Symbol now to be on facebook, twitter or orkut...and if ur friendlist is big, bigger and biggest it makes u brag more about it! Even tho u know a person or not u wud like to add him/her to ur friendlist, and especially indian facebook users try to add foreign facebook users to their freindlist, so that when his/her indian freinds see the list they shud think "oh waaaw he has got so many freinds in US, germany, UK...." hehehe...all the networking social websites is just a waste of time, its spoiling the youth of our country.

Yes people like to flaunt their new cars, homes, foreign trips, trophy girlfriends on these sites. This is not good for society as it gives rise to jealousy etc.

I'd really beg to differ on the misconception of social networking sites being a status symbol. It is nothing which is making one look "glamorous" or "powerful" or someone ahead of the crowd in any ways.Every Tom Dick and Harry today is on one or other public forums. Ironically, people who are not on any of these sites seem to be "overbusy","serious" or at times disinterested. As far as flaunting around foreign friends is concerned I don't think the youth of today is any longer a time willer to peep into each others long drawn friend list and make an issue about it simply put getting jealous or impressed. These sites "become" a waste of time and danger when used recklessly, mindlessly, inethically or harmfully. Its a simple phenomenon of Roses with some thorns!!!! These sites apart from a convenient channel of connectivity have become an enriching source of exposure and a platform of creativity also!!!

A friend in need is friend indeed, these are wasteful time spending things, when u are in need of a good friend say for some money, or some advice on a good course none will help u other than hypocratic messages.

And most women are men

Facebook Glitch
by Guru Prasad on May 14, 2010 08:44 AM

Author could have also warned the Facebook Users about the recent glitch it had. All Friends of Friends were able to watch live the online chats of their Friends with anyone for couple of hours. This was resolved by Facebook after some time.

Internet is good for learning.

Google is biggest gift to mankind. its like our brain. Any question we have just type in google search and it will defenitly get you some good idea. Similarly any topic of interest like business success, spirituality you search on youtube and learn from video.
Its good for rural and small town. Teacher can use this to train students on various topics. Otherwise book memorising sytem makes students mind even dull.
Use of internet is cheap, easy.
But also be carfull it can waste a lot of time since it give lot of intertainment also.

try this
by ashish sinha on May 13, 2010 10:54 PM

if u r in orkut, opt for the basic version where you do not see your friends pictures, turn off their updates and urs too. This way in a few days you will start using orkut for those 'genuine' being in touch reasons.

similarly in facebook, hide the updates from your friends. and use privacy buttons so that strangers can only see your very basic info.

and yes, please do turn off email alters for all scraps, updates, messages etc.

this way your visits to orkut and facebook will become more productive. you will waste less time in unnecessary things on these websites.

hope this helps.

FACEBOOK IS INDEX OF STYLE
by RAKESH YASHROY on May 13, 2010 06:25 PM

As 'face is the index of mind', facebook the index of style for youngsters; elders also may join facebook/orkut as peers. With pictures, comments and little philosophy, it is a great fun with instantly interactive activity of informal social-contacts. Facebook, Orkut and also twitter will soon say bye to telephone, bye-bye to e-mail and good-bye to post offices.

Facebook is sh_t
by Pramod S on May 13, 2010 04:09 PM  | Hide replies

Dont give your info online. If you must create some profiles with your initials. Facebook is more and more exposing the private data to third party apps. Once it is on there you have no control..
