Service of the Nation by IAS
by pukhraj singh on May 10, 2010 09:46 AM  | Hide replies

IAS tagged people serve the Nation? I know lot of them who retired and vanished. They fear to face people after retirement and lead of life of anonymity because in the so called service they create more enemies than friends.

I really wonder, why waste a merit seat he got in IIT?.Had he decided to go for IAS he should have opted for a BSC,while leaving his IIT seat for more deserving candidates. So is the Doctor Guy.I really cannot understand. My views could also be wrong.

I completely agree with u. But let me congratulate these guys first.
This happens probably due to stages of life in which such decisions about career is made, Or it may be the blank future served ahead in that field, OR Just a feeling of PERFORMANCE AND SHOW or a gratifying the sense of self actualisation.

LETS C what CHANGE they make. Changes in Indian politics and India are always temporary.
ALL THE BEST to all

You achieve success in steps. Why blame him when thousands of people are not doing what they learnt from college. It's not about engineering that he got from IIT, it was the attitude to struggle which helped him to get IAS top rank. Who knows with BSc he might have ended as thousands of other graduates struggling to get a job.
So don't blame what he did...its his merit ...let him do what he wants to do.
For the people who are cribbing.... make yourself competent enough and you will be on the other side of the fence.

Corruption is the Mantra
by Ultapulta on May 08, 2010 10:30 AM  | Hide replies

In spite of pursuing grueling course of Medicine, Engineering etc these people have opted for less rewarding ( in terms of salary, perks)Civil Services Why? For desh seva?

No! The only charm is Corruption... by way of misuse of tremendous power vested in these posts.Sharing the loot of public money with corrupt politicians is the main charm. The only way to discorage these type of people to join Civil Services is dilution of tremendous powers of these posts.

Its not for corruption. IAS as a career option for many is just the thrill of cracking the examination.

In developed countries anyone can become a civil servant and work for the Govt. In India Civil services are institution of the days of the Raj and that flavour is intact. These people will ultimately be domesticated by the semi-literate arrogant legislators and eventually be used to it. They will also be convinced about the socialist thinking as the only way to empower people and achieve progress..A complete fallacy. According to me these super duper bright people are making a big mistake in opting for civil services rather than making contributions somewhere else that would help generate some Gross Domestic product. Being an IAS chances are you will only erode this value by fattening the layer between the Govt and the masses. Our politicans know by now how to abuse them for personal gains. there was one IAS officer.. Laloo's secretary who carries his peekdaan and helping Laloo spit in it. That officer later committed suicide

Grapes are sour and sweet both. The old addage does not apply here. The fact is fact and one has to realise it without bias and prejudice.
