Instead of being happy over Mr.Bourdain liking an INDIAN food,a lot of fools who have posted here seem to make fun of each others state's culture/food and even goddamn IT !

Damn you fools ! When will this country be united other than the time they watch cricket !
I guess we are the best in 1 thing - MAKING FUN OF OUR OWN PEOPLE !

Jayaraj,

We are our own worst enemies!

Also, if we have friends like these, why need enemies!

Both applies to us!

U r correct dear, i am in middle east, if v engage a fight with any other nationalities indians will say he is southie or northie he needs it. but in case of pakis, bengladeshis or anyother nationalities they will come together ignoring their internal problems? but v indians never learn, we find it difficult to love even our neighbouring states

ONLY Malayalees and those like Bourdain who profit by writing on it will praise Kerala food. No pellets (boiled rice) and hair oil (coconut oil) for the rest of us.

You found enough time to comment twice on Kerala food and why you dont like it. Dont cry so much , you can have your crayons back. Go play.....or go and stuff yourself with ceralac , you will like that. Add sugar.

udupi food is the best
by Nagaraj on Apr 02, 2010 06:33 AM  | Hide replies

i have tasted all the south indian foods and i find the food that is served in udupi hotels to be the best amongst them. some say they add jaggery in sambhar. somehow i didnt come across that. boiled rice and coconut powder in each every dish puts me off. but thats my personal choice. andhra food is too spicy.

I wonder how many extra rolls of toilet paper Anthony Bourdain used after eating Kerala food. Ha! Ha! Even Indians from other States find Kerala food exceedingly pungent!

Kannadigas have the best food in the world. Kerala food is bland and tasteless in comparison. A classical language, state flag, great movies, talented IT.

Not so sure really. The ragi mudde has hardly any taste! Even with the Rasa. However it is my personal opinion. I also could not quite take to the sweetish sambhar where jaggery is added - again a matter of personal choice and preference of course. About talented IT, I have my doubts. Having interacted with a lot of them I find it a lot of hype over substance, especially in IT. But Kannadiga people are nice once you get to know them in their environment.

I loved the Kerala food and the tour. However, I am slowly getting conscious of a strange feeling that somehow the touristy places in Kerala seem to prefer foreigners. This was one of the main reasons I never visited Goa again because I was made to feel unwanted in my own country. There are places in Pondicherry which make you feel the same. Now I am afraid slowly Kerala is becoming like that. Indian tourists are not as welcome as the "phoren" tourist, even though he might be a toilet cleaner or Taxi driver in some ghetto, still his status is higher than our status in our own country. But that doesn't kill my love for Mallu food of course, just that to eat the authentic stuff I fear that I may not be able to visit Kerala any more, but would have to go to my mallu friends' houses more often!!!

With due respect sir, I know that guests are like god when I visit my malayali friends at their homes. However, I was talking about the tourist places. No offense to Kerala or Malayalis, but more a comment on human nature when the lure of the lucre takes over the more human emotions. That is the reason I mentioned Pondy and Goa too, and hoped that Kerala won\'t go the same road.

Certainly not. Most part of Kerala is not as commercial like Goa or Pondy. In Pondy, the French think that they still rule the Terittory. Which is all but true. However, Kerala has many small towns unexplored by the firangs... and they are equally beautiful

You're right Rana. I'm from Kerala and I've been made to feel the same a couple of times.. But then the good part is, its all about the kind of people u get to meet.. I've had these experiences only in 1 or 2 places.. and yea, the food is great.. I believe the problem is when we go to a place in absolute ignorance.. So I make sure when I go to a place, I know somethin about it.. like best spots for dining, partying, touring and so on..

Holy soul, Keral food !! It is like Castor Oil. I had Beef 'chukka' & full night I had to spend in toilet. Curry leaves, coconut oil etc. etc. The worst food ever have I tasted in Kerala. However, they are very hospitable, especially the young ladies whose husbands are away from them in 'Thubai' for years. Mallu 'Aundies' are very polite. 'Ungles' are seems to be exhausted, but, good in heart. Their Hindi...superb - Hum Dukaan mein saman pakda. 'Thum hamara samaan chori kiya' 'Hum tumko school mein chodhega' etc. etc. Very funny people ofcourse.
