Only surface scan
by Sanjeev Mishra on Mar 30, 2010 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

These stories only scan the surface. Once you grow in business, govt. bodies will start torturing you till you become really big Organisations.
Sales Tax, DRI, Excise, etc. are worst then underworld in their bahviour with mid-small entrepreneurs. Their raids are as if you are running a drug syndicate or prostitution racket. Legislations ensure them complete impunity.

This is very true.

And this is the reason there is close to ZERO entrepreneurship in India.

This is really good but for the biggeners
by mahesh kankal on Mar 30, 2010 10:30 AM

India is all about competition, scale, diversity & uniqueness..this is really good idea but only for Mumbai & suburbs..where you have fixed 7.18 am fast local to catch other wise your day goes for toss..you have those three autowala's you most likely to get during those hours no matter if you haven't asked them their name from last five years..your eye catches those fellow passangers..auto wala, vadapav wall..so inserting something in this sort of "gulams of routine" population & their itinerary needs creativity but its unique opportunity..

Why Small and Medium Enterprises are doomed?
by Rajan Sodankur on Mar 30, 2010 09:59 AM  | Hide replies

Small entrepreneurs like street vendors, tutors, government and private school and college teachers offering tution at home too, lawyers, doctors, road side workshop owners, shop keepers, home business owners either escape tax nets or earn below taxable limits; big business ownners know with their money power how to evade part of taxes due; it is only the small and medium enterprise owners who are torn apart among tax guys, police, goons demanding protection money, politicians and labor leaders seeking favors, big business customers who delay clearance of their bills, money lenders, laborers and job-hopping staff and professional service providers like lawyers and tax consultants who exploit SME owners using ever changing laws, procedures and rules of the government and local bodies. Until the government and local bodies formulate self explanatory or self guidable rules and procedures, guide and support with freely distributable tax computation sheets and programs thru internet, SMEs and the nation will continue to suffer. For the taxes SMEs pay to the government why can't the govt itself provide them free of cost or nominal cost services for tax and other law compliance by engaging a pool of serving or retired professionals or industrial associations to save millions of man-hours for the nation and earn more revenue? More complicated and publicly less visible rules and procedures make enforcement more difficult, needing more govt staff and result in less net revenue.

Very well said; and it is 100% True.

This is precisely the reason there is close to ZERO real entrepreneurship in India. Example: Almost No Small/Meidum Scale industries are coming up.

Hello Manoj,

I truly agree that corruption is killing a lot of things. But to a point we also need to blame our self,

what this I mean that why would someone want to give a bribe??
to make things easy/ fast/ get through the que of wait / etc

we all need to learn a very important lesson of patients and being persistant with what we follow.

it is then only we can kill the root of corruption.

Hello Niraj,

Thank you for your suggestion, we will try and work on them.

Currently the magazine is in English only and contain 24 pages. We plan to incorporate few pages in hindi and marathi soon. We are awaiting few good writers for the same.

Thanks,
Mulchand
