why bright people fail in india.
by manoj kumar on Mar 26, 2010 01:09 AM

They are no able to form an inspiring team. which is important for achieving any big project. indian are basically ego maniac. every body want to be boss. sit and order others. thats all we fantasize. No training is given since childhood to keep eye on the outcome and be a good member of a team. serving other is seen as inferior. west has grown so much because their citizens are trained since childhood about how to be great member of any team and contribute your best withoug asking for too much personal reward. thats key of their success in business, tech, sports everywhere.

The awards in this country are bought.....so Sreedharan may never get a Bharat Ratna.
Saif Ali Khan has been awarded Padmashri award for what?.....shooting the black buck or making some crap movie or because of his influential parents?
In this country we honor the entertainers more than the people who work for social uplift. Many a times we would have honored people which the Magases Award recognises.....
Its better to scrap all those award which makes no sense....

delhi metro-a phenomenon
by surajit som on Mar 24, 2010 05:39 PM  | Hide replies

the infrastructures of our big cities are among the worsts in the world.water, electricity, sanitation, road, garbage collection, drainage are nightmares. even newer ,swanky suburb like gurgaon are no exeption.people just accept this as part of urban india.

delhi metro stands as an exception to all this chaos. it shows that even in indian cities, good infrastucture for public can be built.it also shows that you dont have to pay millions of dollars to get world-class managers.that a committed individual can beat a rotten system and turn it upside down.recent surveys show that delhi is the most livable city of india. delhi metro must be leading factor.

we need hundreds and thousands of shreedharans to make our big cities ,our towns livable. our cities must improve if we are to progress as a nation.you cannot be a leading nation with depressing, rotten cities.think of america ,europe, japan and you know what i mean .delhi metro shows that it is possible to change things.we have wonderful managers. what else are required ? no political interference, clear mandate ,steady funding etc.

Shreesharan should have been made Railways minister instead of that braying Mamata and should have been put in charge of introducing bullet trains to India.

Alas, it did not happen.

Builder of first major railway project after Britishers
by Darshan on Mar 24, 2010 05:01 PM

He is the man of execution.Konkan Railway is the first large railway project after britishes left India. So its a real achievement. What I have consistently seen is the simplicity of these man of high calibur and attitude of not making too much of fuss about their great work.Definitely they are the real role models of India.

Real Bharat Ratna
by sharp critic on Mar 24, 2010 04:51 PM  | Hide replies

I am shocked at the lack of responses on the discussion board. This perhaps sums up the attitude of the netizens, who possibly prefer juicy topics to indulge in argument, mudslinging and the like.
Shri Sridharan should be regarded as amongst the top most inviduals in the country, who have had a positive impact on a large number of people through his work and one who has not expected anything in return. SHAME ON THESE POLITICIANS WHO ARE RUINING THIS COUNTRY.
Salute to the true Bharat Ratna.
