iit is not the end of life
by vijay pandey on May 27, 2010 04:40 PM

iit is undoubtedly ,one of the best institute in india, conducting a tough(is not a appropriate word.checking the clarity of ur concepts) exam in india.definitely apply ur full affords on it.but remeber iit is not the end of life.this phrase is important because of some students get mentally distubed after not getting selected in jee.so life is not all about jee.try to be happy.

IITs &Intellectuals
by Durlabh Khanna on Mar 27, 2010 09:15 PM

IITs are best because creamy layer of hard working and intelligent students are given admission. It is only a forum to get job in USA or best industries of the world. If one has to assess the performance of these colleges one may not find extraordinary contribution in engineering work compare to other old prestigious colleges.
Notwithstanding the above, one must start working hard from the word go if wants to get admitted in best engineering or medical colleges. Concepts and application must be 100% understood if preparing for competitive examinations. One must develop insight into all the three subjects i.e. Physics, chemistry and mathematics rather than mugging up.

Studies in IITs

Since IITs are established their scientific or enginnering innovations are practically zero. The standard of research conducted in IITs are far below compared to the average universities in USA, Europe or Japan.

Only a handful of faculties do somewhat good teaching and research. Rest are waste.

just clearing iit or not clearing it is not a maeasure of success. it is clear n simple dat life doesnt starts at iit or ends at iit. there are other places also where a person can excel.

U are 100% right Mr tripathi.
One entrance exam can't test anyone calibre. Entire life is a competition. Many people win it at later stage.
I know many students in Bihar who clear JEE exam after 3-4 attempts, study at IIT & then join railway as an enginner. Many good students don't give 2nd try, join some other good institutes.Capable guys from other institutes also do very well in life.

why u choose railway as a symbol of being average with an average engineer! or on second thought a resting place for non-performers !

JEE is dangerous..

some times if you clear JEE, it gives you false confidence.
entry into IIT is just beginning of struggle.
true many of them are reallly brilliant, but some of them really find it difficult to cope with pressure.

Mukesh Ambani joined IIT mumbai. Then he left once he got admission in UDCT mumbai as it is considred best for chemical engineering.
This IIT overhyping is only done in north india where population is more & opportunities are less.
In developed west & south india, there are large no. of capable students study from other good institutes & perform equally well in their field.

That's the exception as chemTech in UDCT is considered far better than that in IITB. But if try to take other streams then you won't find that exception !

yeah you seek no.2 only when you cant get thru no.1
problem with people in west and south india is that they tune their children to think of number 2 from their very childhood!

To get nobel u have to be genius & innovative.
JEE is just a competitive exam & every yr 5,000 suceeds depending on how is ur prepration & some luck.
Clearing JEE is not the only way of determining intelligence.
All nobel prize winners of india(only 7 till now), top scientists, abdul kalam, Dhirubai ambani, kurien, Sreedharan etc didn'y study in IIT but they are much superior to any IIT student.
In India IIT is given too much unnecessary hype. Please note that IIT is one of the good institution, most of IItians are intelligent, but it doesn't mean that rest are not intelligent. There are millions of other people in india who are equaly or more intelligent & also doing better in life.
So simply treat IIT as one of the good institute & no need of any overhyping.
In fact due to over hype IIT coudlnot produce any significant scientific breakthru compared to any top university of developed countries. If u see output of IIT , its just a waste. Simply tough entrance exam (beacuse of large population of india) doesn't make a good engineer who can innovate thing.
