Growth is limited in these cases...
by Arnab Gupta on Mar 26, 2010 11:45 AM

We often hearing about child prodigy but no one know what happens to them when they grow up.98 percent of them lives a very odinary life, reasons -
1. The pressure of coming first every time.
2. Problem in associating with peers as more often the peers are senior.
3. Brain slowly stops functioning like it used to do in the early years.

She should give up the idea of becoming an IAS officer (and be abused by illiterate politicians). Instead, focus on being an entrepreneur.

Poor kid...!
by AK on Mar 16, 2010 08:10 PM  | Hide replies

One doesnt see any sense of pride or achievement in her face..but only an expression of sadness of being trapped and the lost childhood - thanks to her overzealous father. I dont know when will our parents ever realise the futility of such exercises as has been exemplified umpteen number of times in India. Actually, such parents shd be arrested..! A child coming out with some innovative ideas on its own is one thing and making a kid sit, read and memorise things meant for elder ones is another. The later is pure violence against the kid. The media is equally responsible for such violence against the kids. And i dont understand why our government gives permission for such things. If a child is a prodigy there is no need to prove it by clearing exams of our stupid academic system. It would come out in terms of good ideas. And exercises such as these kill any such streak of intelligence in the kid, even if the child actually happens to be a prodigy!

AK you are mistaken.
Read carefully what her father has told regarding each child has a potential. If not parent then who will discover it. It does not take a rocket scientist to identify a hidden talent in a person who is born and brought up and lives by you.
Acad system and grading is not good for so many kids that I understand. But if a 9 yr kid excels in acad then she has enough time left to switch to anything she wants later in life.
The main point is kid should be absorbed and use their time. becos kids are honest to themselves - if they dont like they dont get absorbed in it.

a
oversized brain
by a on Mar 16, 2010 11:41 AM

Maybe some hormonal imbalance caused ceratin parts of her brain to grow bigger, there is nothing more to it, lots of intelligent students are licking the behind of mediocre people, it is better to highlight such cases so that people can understand the uselessness of being a good student, and instead turn to other areas for excellence

Truly inspiring
by M Parshuram on Mar 16, 2010 05:47 AM

Most parents force their kids to excel in their studies while forgetting the child's keenness to do so. On the other hand there are thousands of kids in our world who, if given a free hand, are capable of emulating Naina's feat. The child does naturally well till as long as the parents play the role of facilitators and not that of regulators. Freedom right from birth actually brings about a sense of courage, wellness and responsibility in the individual child to excel in whatever he/she enjoys doing. Thanks and congratulations to Naina's parents for raising their child in such a wonderful way.

great job....

Naina have done a great job...
someone are pointing her parents for forcing their aims on children.. she have that talent and her parents gave her a good support.. what is the use of making a child to study 5th class who have the talent of studying 10th class(along with basic knowledge).. i myself had completed my 10th class at the age of 10,intermediate at the age of 12 and I have done my engineering at the age of 16 in 2007.. now I am working as a software engineer.. i was able to do all these just only because of my parents encouragement and their support.. there is no matter of publicity in this... they just want to keep their children's talent in a correct way.. that's it.. there will be a great hard work of her parents more than her in achieving this.. see if someone says that a kid of 6years is dancing well or of 8 years singing great then no one will have point of criticizing their parents for doing all these.. instead they praise them for encouraging their children. Please take it in the same way...
Every kid cannot sing well and every kid cannot dance well… ppl should take it in the same way in case of studies also… every kid cannot study well..
So please don’t blame her parents..instead tell other parents not to force their kids to study and get distinctions but encourage them recognizing their talent. Not only the people who got distinctions are successful… there are many ppl who are not good in studies

From your draft, your age is obvious; (mistakes are too many to list here) You should have been a student still at your age; now you say you are working as soft ware engineer; god should save the co you are working.

Dont try this at home
by kiran kumar on Mar 15, 2010 04:55 PM  | Hide replies

While this girls case is inspirational. I would advise people reading this article against trying this at home without expert advise. Naina may be having extraordinary talents and her father nurtured them. Other kids may not be as much talented or may be talented in some other field. It is extreamly important to let kids blossom on their own and only a guidence should be provided.

I hope people understand.

Yes! Dr. Rajendra Pachori (pronounced as Kachori) has come with a task report stating that one of reason why glaciers are melting is because children's like Naina are responsible for glacier melt down. can anyone write to Kachori that his report is wrong and such talent should be harnessed.

I agree with you. Parents should not burden there kids with there expectations. Each Kid is special and need to be treated accordingly.
There should not be comparisions between the kids ..this may lead to depression if Kid is not able to meet the parents expectations.

Its just coincidence! Myself & my Mrs. curiously viewed the Geetha, Sumathi Sathakas, Vishnu Sahasranamam progrmes of Naina at the age of 4 years, through "youtube". Its really amazing. She must have special blessings from Goddess Saraswathy. Now I have this article. Naina, We wish U all the best in your lifetime! We are proud od you dear!

weel said. As said in the article, ".....in an age when most of the students dream to become either engineers or doctors or pursue management courses, Naina has opted to study Arts subjects like civic and economics. "My aim is to become an IAS officer and serve my country," she says."

Its common among middle class families. IT/doctor/MBA. That's all.
Hope she does well in the Civil Services, not sucked into the rotten system we have.

To survive in Civil Services not only one should have brains, they should have smarts which comes only from interaction with people.
