Achiviement

Pray tell me what is this super achiver wants to achieve( irrespective of being man or woman)? In all this rat race to be an "achiever" we forget one fundamental thing. Quality of life. We just live like rats and die like rats. Work is a part of life not the life itself. A woman wants to be successful in her career, be a good mother, learn salsa. COme on give me a break. You should be super human to do all that and I guess there are no super humans yet made

True!

It's very true...women in urban India struggle hard to balance life with work/ career. If we introspect for a moment about why we are in this situations, we have easy answers. We equated/ defined women's development as 'career advancement'. When it comes to policy initiatives such as the reservation bill, media talks only to high profile women from ICICI, Axis Bank, NDTV, etc., This further fuels the ambitions of younger generation and makes them believe that Corporate Success is the only success for women in their life. Our earlier generations had a wonderful balance of division of duties. Both husband and wife used to get ample time beyond their 'regular work'. There was nothing 'inherently' wrong with that model. Everyone enjoyed life well. children got better attention and grooming. As Bharat became India, everyone started talking about 'Gender Equality' (as if there was none, before). We changed the socio-economic system in pursuit of a mistaken objective. Apart from this, women who don't work are branded 'Backward Housewives'! Now the situation is that unless both husband and wife work in middle class families, it is becoming increasingly difficult to survive in cities.

Now whom should be blame for the poor health of urban women in India?!!

Reservation will solve all problems just as SC/ST/OBC reservation, Gender Specific Laws, Women Police Stations - solved all problems. Same way.
