still might not be enough...
by dineshhassija on Aug 25, 2014 12:24 PM

best work might not be appreciated always... even much inferior products are sold in bulk in almost categories... best work actually might be useless if there are no commercial buyers who have one and only one motive and that is maximum profit...moreover, there can't be any precise definition for good work... world is too big and must have deserving millions in almost all segments... To survive in a society, we must try to do our work with passion and without almost zero expectation ...

So what ?
by No Ilanding on Mar 15, 2010 09:10 PM  | Hide replies

Having read many strong (and some dirty) opinions of self-praise of Bhanu, it is a disgust to know that some people like to see the small picture and ignore the bigger lessons. Self-Praise is not something that's common, so it's noticeable. But what ultimately should we learn is how this lady has achieved a state of pride in her life. She's certainly admirable and inspiring. I cannot imagine there are so many people in India who think Marriage is the ultimate goal for a women and that she is born to marry and that is her personal growth! And it's a shame girls like Vaishali say these lines.
I feel sad and disappointed to be associated with these kind of people, but alas, they too are Indians!

Ok. She is great and had done a great work. So what? Let people say you are the best. Why are you praising your self? I see nothing admiring in any of the answers. Ok! about being single, my comments were harsh and I could have not pointed that out. Sorry about that!

Honour (OSCAR) and not work may be unmatched.
by RAKESH YASHROY on Mar 14, 2010 02:40 AM

It is a story that goes: "Nothing succeeds like success". Bollywood dress designers are brilliant too. But Hollywood is drenched in self-esteem and by-and-large ignores talent of Bollywood. Why should it bother? It is all in the business of making money. Feel good for Banu's claim to fame, and relax. Dr. RC YashRoy

Mera Naam
Good for you, Ma''am!
by Mera Naam on Mar 14, 2010 12:09 AM

As I can see from the various irrelevant messages below, people in India just can't stomach a strong self-made person, especially when they happen to be a woman.

The same people who are criticizing Ms. Athaiya's confident utterances are the ones who will profess to be fans of Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" and her theory of selfishness.

The hypocrites! In theory, they will be feminists and modernists, but when theory comes to life, then they are unable to take it.

"Learn to be modest"?? THAT's your lesson for life? Don't you dare go global then! Sit in your dark corner in some small village in India, and keep being modest there!

"Be more like AB"?? Do you have the faintest idea what he is about? From Amar Singh being his brother, now Narendra Modi is his newly found best friend. Don't you ever dare talk about him being a role-model! A good actor, undoubtedly! A role-model through his behaviour? No way, Jose!

Is she suffering from Superiority Complex?
by Vaishali Pandya on Mar 12, 2010 08:22 PM  | Hide replies

"Nobody can match me in this country. My work is the best in India." Wow... Ms. Bhanu, just because your work got noticed and paid off by film industry; you don't be the best in the country. Yeah, say best in the film industry and we will still accept. I don't think even Mr. Bachchan would ever say something like this. Look at this woman!
