Nice Idea
by hiren daftari on Mar 04, 2010 12:42 PM

Really its innovative and appreciated that there is someone who is really bothered about environment.
The question is not whether this initiative will be successful or not but it is whether are we the people committed to do something for our planet or not? if answer is YES we surely will see more such ideas coming up.
Best wishes.

Ramesh, mumbai, eco enterprenuer
by Gopal Krishnan on Mar 04, 2010 10:42 AM

Congratulations on your bold initiative. All corporations in big cities should adopt these private enterprenuers and support them. In a city like Chennai, it will be warmly welcomed. Because many of the city buses do not stop near the rly stations and chennai autos charge exorbitantly. So this will be a boon to chennaites if someone can tie up with Ramesh and introduce this concept here. Ramesh can apply for carbon credit too if this buisiness is expanded. The environment ministry and the health ministry together should welcome and make this a grand success in all the cities in India.

Appreciate your new idea. Though you are rich man being a CEO of a company, it shows your simplicity GUTS to quit that the post and bring in a wonderful concept towards the environment. It is very true that, we waste a lot of time waiting for the buses, rikshawas and reaching late than we travel by a bycycle on our own which we realize at the end of the day. I am sure many of them will appreciate understand the need for the being enviourment friendly. YOU NEED TO BE AWARDED!!

Why it could fail
by iota on Mar 04, 2010 09:53 AM  | Hide replies

1. Getting a cycle for a ride, requires you to submit identity, address proof documents - like that for a mobile! NUMBER ONE REASON THIS VENTURE WILL FAIL.

2. Most people do not need cycle on regular basis, they would occasionally like to take it - why register, and take a scheme etc. for all that. NO WAY.

3. There are no roads to drive on. Driving cycle in over-congested roads is not a great idea.

In some cities in GERMANY, you can simply rent a bicycle from hundreds of possible locations, and drop them similary. You only need to have a small change in your pocket. SIMPLE AND EASY.

Adding to tht:
1) The other people who share the roads are not very much respectful towards cycle riders.
2)Non-availability of cycle tracks.
3) Most Imp the climate of our country is the biggest deterrent is the climate. Hot, humid and dusty.

Looks like you are a bicycle renter. So you are discouraging instead appreciating someone starting an eco friendly concept.
