Do not quit - but persevere

However highly skilled, qualified and knowledgeable one may be, one has to develop the great quality of getting along with superiors, collegues, and subordinates in the organization. There is a great difference between Indian corporate companies and American companies in the way they evaluate employees' performence. Lot of changes are required before the gap is filled up. Be patient, and you will be rewarded with higher positions - V.K.Ramanathan, Thane.

Not a single person here is thankful to namma Kannadigas, who brought the IT industry to India in the first place. They indeed deserve more applause and recognition. Kannada locals should be given preference in all IT jobs.

Salary discrimination
by studioworks on Mar 04, 2010 05:46 PM  | Hide replies

Salaries in private sector should be in line with public / government sector. At present there is a huge gap between the salaries. Also a regulation to that effect should be brought by the govt. where salaries in private sector are revised periodically. To some extent govt should have a say in PVT sector.

This is sheer jealousy on any particular days and with whateever view you expressed.
Private jobs salaries are dependent on performance and nothing else ...

Instead they should be provided atleast basic security if not as a public sector one.

If you are really interested in private sector why not join that ...

My take on all this is that govt. employees are paid more and they work less not to mention the holidays they enjoy. That is discrimination. What is the govt. doing for this. Every year they increase the salary of Govt. employees in the name of D.A. and what not, irrespective of whether the employee is working or not. In a private organisation, salary depends on performance. God forbid, the economy is in recession, employees in pvt. sectors are doomed.

People in govt. jobs have job security, so they are not compelled to perform their optimum. They just have a very callous attitude. Whereas in pvt sector, people jst slog to earn the salaries that they are been given. Hv u ever come across ppl frm govt sector staying back after office hrs or till midnite to complete their work or meet deadlines. Well, we do tht in pvt. sector jobs. So the govt shld not have any say in the salary we draw.

if financial law enforcement were better
by Devdutt Nayak on Mar 04, 2010 09:16 AM  | Hide replies

we would have a lot more small businesses in India, like in the US, due to which India could become an innovator's dream market.

No, you don't need patents and intellectual property for this.

You need basic decency in educated and rich people, and you need law enforcement to prevent or repair financial white-collar crime.

Indian corporate sector will never be as innovative as China or USA because the small guy has no legal support here.

And people always want cheap or for free.
That is because our petty savings mentality has not gone - which is only reinforced by crooked politicians and large corporate houses like Reliance.

Well said. It is high time the employees grievance redressal against fraudulant employees be addressed in a faster manner. Maybe something like a consumer redressal forum be formed to meet employee grievances in private companies. Today they are at the mercy of destiny.

Yes. We don't need intellectual poperties. The whole misery has started for the small guy only after the opening up of the economy for globalisation. Three big industrial estates in Chennai has given way to the high rise buildings of IT & ITES service providers. Small scale units in these industrial estates which has been providing bread & butter to thousands of needy families, have been virtually killed by the Goliath called IT industry which employs only IT professionals. Does it mean that every individual has to be an IT professional to make a living.

Ofcourse, a redressal forum in the name of Labour Department do exist. They seldom support the affected employee, but go along with the managements, reasons are obvious and its anybody's guess.

Anish,
I advise u one thing, if you think with your skills & calibar you can reach your boss position and the oppurtunity came just go for it. after all you are the better judge of your own skills. instead if you feel still i need to learn more then you will end up yourself in learning only not earning.
