Hi
We are a family of six persons, consisting of my parents both above 60 years, myself and my wife below 50 years, and my two sons below 25 years. We were covered under the Mediclaim of 3.00 lacs for the last 15/20 years, except in the case of my father there had been no claim under any policy my father had a cardiac problem and had to undergo angioplasty. In the year Dec 11, i was approached by a agent, who suggested to me family floater polices of 10.00 lacs. I was told that any pre existing disease will have cooling period of upto 2 to 4 years and that there will be a conditions of there being a overall cooling period of 6 months for payment of claims under the new policy.

I took 2 policies of 10 lacs each covering three persons of 10.00 lacs each issued by Oriental....

I have not learned that there are general exclusions in any policy of upto 2 to 4 years for deceases even if they are not a a previous history in case the age of the insured is more than 60 years.

My question to you is
1. How can get over this impasse, some of the disease under exclusion are the ones which can come to person after 60 years, and we having paid the premium and are now not covered. I am told that the number of disease not covered and also the period for which they are not covered varies from insurance company to company, can you guide me with a suitable option. I am told Max Bupa can be a good option ?
