L & T is the Best place for a Mech guy to start his c
by Murtaza Ali on Jun 11, 2010 10:04 AM  | Hide replies

I beg to differ with most of the comments below..I worked with L&T and as per me , this is the best "Institute" for a young grad to start his career. You will learn a lot and definitely will have lot of challenges to face. Even if you have to manage the subcontractors , the management does not stop at getting things done but the sub-cons will need lot of Technical inputs which you should be capable of providing.
I am not sure where all others who commented below worked but my experience in this Organization was one of the best and I respect each day I worked here.
If you expect an IT like job where for doing your own work , somebody will plead you then don't join L&T. In L&T , you have to respect professionalism and do your job with utmost sincereity and pride. This is something missing gravely in IT or other services job.

Requesting all fresh collage outcomers, plz do not to get involved in L&T. Technically everything will be subcontracted & you just need to coordinate with vendor that is what they do. no real technical skill you will learn. coming to culture, you should be able to tackle the politics & say yes to seniors. If you want a govt like job, go ahead. if you are looking for a bright career prospect & a good start then go for other engineering consultancy where pay is little less but you will get much exposure.
it may sounds crazy but before saying yes just check your seniors who might be in L&T at present.
It is not criticism, I am an exL&Tite.
I was 10 years experience when i joing L&T and got surprised to see the roles one is handling. You should consider this company when you are planning for a retired life (with peace of mind & no tensions)
I dont mean to hurt any of my excollegues feelings.

I fully agree with you. If you join, ready to listen from the seniors like - "DO IT, IT IS MY ORDER". And be ready to take all the blames and pass on the hardwork credits to seniors.

Praveen,
Its not only for L&T. If u going any organisation who is giving 'support' only, they hv to only 'Manage' things and if nothing to manage, say blah blah and do soaping to ur boss.

If u a fresher/middle management only vendor side gv u best exposure. And if u join a big company remember u are a very small fish so all this things will happen

(Me also)

I fully agree with you, what i was suggesting to freshers is just to concentrate on learning technical things rahter than going by brand name.(as rediff campaigning onbehalf of L&T in the above article)
Now a days India possess design back offices of almost all global technoleaders. If you join one of them & get exposure it will highly benifit.

Completely agree with parveen and being an exL&Tite I am going to tell u some thing about this organisation in detail will post here the circular as well what came from the HR I worked in their embedded domain called as L&T Emsys
Here goes there Rules
1) Here are no corporate culture here they follow there own slave culture you cant speak about the work or any thing If you do you have to bear the sufferings
2) They main aim is to get the cheap labour from the market
3)They wont give you a chance to learn any thing they keep changing you work so you will never have experience of a particular thing that you will be able to show in the market
4)There infrastructure is very bad

IN ONE LINE IF YOU JOIN LNT EMSYS
YOU WILL REGRET THROUGH OUT YOUR LIFE

Why this criteria of 60%
by veer sokhi on Jun 10, 2010 04:43 PM  | Hide replies

Why do you put this criteria of 60 % in jobs.. i am from Assam, where getting 60 % itself is difficult in Degrees, and there's a hell lot of corruption among the faculties, from whom if you dont take tutions you dont get good marks.. but we are not bad students.. however if somebody has scored over 70 in PG, but does get a score of 60 in Degree, UG, etc.. could a company like L&T make way for exceptions.. the same goes for private sector banks and other cos..
