Homestay pricing
by Tom Dick on Jun 23, 2010 11:47 AM

Home-stay pricing tend to go upward because customers expect all facilities of five star hotels in a home stay. To satisfy the customers expectations, home-stay owners try to improve facilities which in turn increase the cost. As facilities increase, so does the axes too..Now I believe, there is a grading system for home-stays where by one can expect certain standards.

Stop digging more into nature ...leave something for next gen
by jaggu on Jun 11, 2010 11:11 AM  | Hide replies

In 2 generations we have destroyed all forest cover & converted farmland into malls.

There is no reason to go deeper into forests- keep enjoying your concrete graveyard, leave something for the next 500 generations

Rightly said. I appreciate your concern about nature and future generations.

be on your own!

better to go on your own to a forest and put the tent! that will be more adventurous than staying at so called homestays! you will get to enjoy the mother nature on your own pace, no restrictions, no strings, no fringes, no taxes and last but not the least 'no big hole in your pocket'!

Homestay owners have too high expectations
by Manoj M on Jun 08, 2010 05:51 PM

When I was looking for a holiday, most of the homestays were charging prices which were close to what hotels would charge. Also, if possible avoid booking homestays from the net,as lot of times, the places aren't as good as they look to be. There are times when homestay owners are nice & friendly & there are the greedy ones too. There's a limitation on what you can eat though, it's kind of restricted to what the home owner can cook.

BUT

All these are for the phirangis. Indians are usually treated as dirt or point blank refused accommodation in many homestays in Kerala and Goa.

Thats because of the mindset of people here! Wherever we go, we do not leave the habit of dirtying around, and moreover, start arguing/fighting even if there is a minor issue..

Skin color doesn't matter for doing cheap stuff !!! Tukaram.

It is the mindset that we should be wary off.

Even in Air India they are arrogant to fellow desis. If a gora is sitting next to a desi, the hostess will ask the Gora for cashews but ignores the desis.

Few people (older generation Desis) throw garbage on the floor around them.
