When Indian students are not safe here in India and are beaten up in other states, how do we expect other nations to protect them.
World is so small and everybody across the globe knows what we do in our home.
so why to blame them or be surprised...Australia is doing just the same what is done back home....

by the same anology.. when aussie beat Indians in Australia, why not beat Aussies in India?? Or, your slave mind does not agree to that.

If Indian students are not safe in India, solution should be to reverse it, not further the crimes against Indian students in other places also. How shameless can one get?!!

Smaller numbers... deterred or Undeterred??? Spin of the media!

Undeterred by the sporadic incidents of violence and egged on by peer pressure, Indian students continue to fly to Australia [ Images ], in smaller numbers though.

U r right - strangely statistics reveal that about 70% of Indian Students in Australia are from Punjab & Haryana belts - ALSO, of late, significant percentage from AP - I think GOI should initiate some measure to check the credentials of Agents in these regions. Also, Australian Govt. must adapt stricter measures of scrutiny for applications in general AND in particular for applicants from these regions - It is reported in TOI sometime back that Agents go to villages in Punjab & Haryana, convince villagers to ensure that their child study in Australia, they get their land pledged, provide finance, ensure admission for a vocational course like Hairdressing, Cookery etc; ALSO ensure pre-course in English et all - rather it must be a concerted effort from BOTH Indian Govt. & AHC in India to prevent UNSCRUPULOUS Students & Agents, without any bias whatsoever with a view to ensure quality/genuine students going to Australia for study.

A student who successfully completes a "PROPER" course in Australia is more likely to get PR Visa - sometimes a Temporary Visa being a prelude for gaining the coveted PR Visa that leads to Citizenship, which by itself is a Visa to travel/Work to many countries; including advanced nations like USA, UK, Canada etc.

In my capacity as Offshore Agent of Aust. Govt. @ DIAC & involved in providing immigration services to Australia for about a decade, based @ Bangalo

One will have to agree with Jim on this. Why look as far as Australia? Look at what's happening within our country. Migrants to cities refuse to adapt to the life there and end up doing what they feel is right or what might be accepted in their villages, leading to cultural clashes.
