When one uses a high value DSLR camera with additional lenses(that's equally expensive) one just can't afford to live without a formidable tripod to accompany it.

Generally, bright afternoons tend to overexpose the results. So you will need to bring down the exposure compensation, by at least -2 ev. As a P'n S user i suggest the best way to do this is to use the Program auto mode. If shooting potraits, in the same mode, use center-weighted metering.

If you cam has the "histogram" option.. use it,, That really gives you a clear idea of what kind of picture you are taking
