INTERVIEW
by sambit mukherjee on Jun 07, 2010 08:39 AM

Well, 10 possible ways to answer really dont help, as bcoz finally its the managers juridiction, whether u get the job or not,its like how much u try to convince them, how much he gets satisfied with you, at the end if he feels he wants to give you the job he will or he wont. These buggers dont think even once that they had 2 undergo the same when they were juniors. Its like getting bullied or ragged even after getting out of college & back to college. GROW UP MANAGERS.

1st question is Irrelevant
by Biswa Ranjan on Jun 07, 2010 06:32 AM

No interviewer is supposed to ask such personal questions.
The writer claims himself to be a 'corporate trainer'. I dont think he understands the corporate world as much, as he feels to be.
Such questions might be asked in NDA or other defence Orgs for officer posts. But, in corporate world such questions are strongly discouraged.
The interviewee should intelligently, politely and firmly say 'I would prefer not to answer this question'.

I have this experience many times that this is the first question they ask.
I don't understand that why these people not try to look at resume once.
The whole article is useless.

No,dear.
I am also an interviewer of a top level company.
If you face such questions means their must be some tricks to know behind the question.Every organisation has budget for every position .
You should smile and speak cooll that Sir I am getting this and i feel I deserve for this amount .If feel like my ability please look at my good achievements of present company where i am working now.

The meaning is that you are there not for money but you want to show your ability to other comapany.

True, this may be an art of negotiation.Every company has specific budget and interviewer is always prepared with unexpected demand from the candidate. But at the same time he always expect the candidate should quote lower than the expectation.

Tricky interview question
by Som Majumdar on Jun 02, 2010 06:20 AM  | Hide replies

I do not agree with the views propagated by the writer. Every employer looks for talented employee who can deliver in the end. Likewise, if the candidate is confident, reasonably intelligent and a balanced person, there is no problem at all to get through. I myself faced many interviews for selection of high position and likewise, I took interviews to select the people I wanted for my team. These sorts of so-called tricky-question-environment does not exist in the real world. Nonetheless, more often than not, the candidate may be asked to describe himself or herself just to see how he or she relates, composes, clearly delivers and if he or she enthuse confidence. That's all.- Som Majumdar Sydney Australia

Totally agree with you...ultimately, it is about talent, hardwork and that element of luck to do well in life.....

And for most people, life dopesn't offer a choice of not working...so you have to go and out there and earn your bread and butter.......otherwise, in this inflationary spiral where even a simple meal at a 3rd rate joint sets you back by Rs 100, you will have to starve...

So, be practical, work hard and and earn your success.....

All the ten rules or even million rules are useless, absolutely impractical and no way connected to the real world. We have talent and then we are in demand.
We get million jobs, who is the boss, there no bosses here. We have talent and we are the boss.
