No govt. agency mentioned here
by Chander Mohan on Jul 29, 2010 09:25 PM

I think author of this article is in favour of pvt. insurance companies only. He nowhere mentioned about govt. run insurance company all through his article. I think if we pay our hard earned money to govt. then atleast our money will remain in our country and will be used to further boost our own economy. These foreign tie up companies will eventually vanish with all booty.

Unwarranted & unprecedented Premium Hike
by Sampat Lunia on Jul 28, 2010 11:06 PM

M/s Reliance General Insurance Co Ltd have launched an extremely competitive Healthwise Policy with initial unique cover of Critical Illness cover under Gold Plan and PED cover after two years of continuation unlike for 4-5 years then by other insurers-about 3 years ago. However they have increased their premium by almost 3 to 5 times from 1/7/2010.For example - A person who had covered his family of 4 under Healthwise Family floater policy last year and paid Rs.3773/-as annual premium is being asked to pay Rs.21343/-for renewal this year. One who paid just Rs.2328/- last year for self for SI of Rs.2 Lakh is being asked to shell out Rs.10061/- for continuing the policy.Someone who paid Rs.1579 under Gold Policy for his 4 family members last year is aghast to receive his renewal notice demanding him to pay a cool Rs.9153/- this year.
Comapany says that Regulator-IRDA has approved these exhorbitant revised rates. As it is under Non Tariff regime regulator also seems helpless.Worst still, clients who have supported their then newly launched Policy allowing them penetration in the market feel cheated and betrayed as their PED which has been covered now will be an "exclusion" again for another 4 years if they migrate to other insurers.Persons above 45 years in most cases have to undergo pre acceptance Medical Tests at their cost @ Rs.1500 to Rs.2500/- as portability issue has remain unresolved.IRDA must intervene now and enforce portability in consumer inte

No,cashless facility may not have been withdrawn.Only few Network Hospitals who have been indulging in malpractice of inflating their bills have been withdrawn from their list for cashless facility which means you have to pay in cash to such Hospitals and claim reimbursemnt later. This has been primarily done with a view to clamp unfair practices of few Hospitals and TPAs who inflate their bills for extending cashless facility.

Medical Insurance
by Ghanshyam sengar on Jul 28, 2010 11:34 AM

It helps only the medical insurance companies and bunch of cheatsthugs who in connivance with medical insurance companies employees are able to make false claims passed by giving bribes, It is next to impossible to get your genuine claims passed through insurance companies since there are innumerable number of clauses through which your mediclaim can be rejected

Don't opt medical insurance from Private Players
by Sivaraman Srinivasan on Jul 28, 2010 11:06 AM  | Hide replies

Do not opt for medical insurance from Private players.

Reasons:
1.The selling agents hides lot of critical information and you would come to know only when you go for claim.

2. Even if you decide to go wtih a private player, Please get a list of conditions under which the insurance is covered. Get convinced and then go.

3. You may think the risk is only few thousands but when you are hospitalised, the risk would run in lakhs.

4. To avoid all this. Go with Mediclaim. They have improved in service and they do not give you huge shocks when you go for claim.

People should not fall

into the trap and go for Medical Insurance with Private companies. Instead go for Oriental Insurance. Private Insurers only pay high com to their agents to fool customers. They are not at all interested in settling claims. ICICI LOOMBARD, RELIANCE all are not reliable.

YES. very correct. people should go for Four General Insu.Cos. i.e. National Insurance, New India Insurance, United Insurance & Oriental Insurance only. Pvt.Cos are here to gain profits and not for settling claims.
