Sounds like subliminal messages from the corporates...
by Bharat Pathiavadi on Aug 30, 2010 09:04 PM

Sounds like preaching from the HR department of a corporate. While some points are agreeable, most of the others aren't. Is this a conspiracy hatched by corporates and media to try to temper the bargaining capacity Indian Software folks have today?

Little too old !

I have a feeling that the times have changed and employers are looking for smart and efficient people. Not like the 60s and 70s. Here I agree with the author on use of slangs and swear words but I think if necessary, one should find out about salary and working condition etc. Most guys are already employed and looking for a better job and how quickly he/she can climb the corporate ladder. So asking questions should be ok. However, be specific and precise and do not antagonise the interviewer with your questions.

Complete misguiding - it should be
by Biren Shah on Jul 28, 2010 03:13 PM

The questions they have mentioned \"Not To Ask\" should \"ALL BE ASKED\". This is the time to know company - their requirements, their structure and how you fit there - also salary is most important as you also mentioned. Without that, it just creates mismatch and reason for attrition.
Even I have taken many interviews in my life and if the person doesnt ask this question - I will consider him DUMB.
So, dont follow this article - complete misguiding...

Then where do you negotiate your salary? Its ok not to discuss it at the outset but I believe it must be discussed at some point in the interview... after all it only for money for which we all work. One would be a liar if one says otherwise.

Tips for Interviewers (who conduct interview)
by iota on Jul 28, 2010 12:50 PM

1. Give respect to the candidate. Just because you are interviewing YOU DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY BECOME GREAT.

2. Stop lying. If you are not sure, SAY SO. It is appreciated. DON'T SAY THE COMPANY INVENTS ROCKETS.

3. Don't discuss SALARY. Its NOT YOUR JOB. Its job of HR or the final recruiting manager.

4. Ask Questions relevant to the WORK AT HAND and after READING the resume. Most interviewers don't even read resumes.

5. Ten Red Balls, and 2 Green Balls - Puzzles mean nothing. Don't get stuck on them.

Keep it SIMPLE.

Great tips to treat yourself.

Nothing is above your needs for future. Nothing is above your career. Career means money. Do anybody will like to be GM at class 3 employee salary.Don't be foolish to accept the package just to get the opportunity. If you are not confident enough, if you are so in need and desperate for an opportunity accept, but may not stand for long. Screwing is the only method ,the socalled bosses know to get the job done. Because they don't know what they want? and what their colleague can deliver?. No plan ,no agenda, everthing expected by deadline to complete, not knowing the work basically the time frame it requires to get quality output.

Be very shrewd in your approach, nothing is going to lose, otherwise you curse yourself for the mistake you have done.
