Creating Habbit
by sk ms on Jul 19, 2010 05:21 PM

What these articles do is building up habbits. Agreed , a disciplined Yogi will never go overboard an duse card more than required or will pay ontime 100%. But once you stray it becomes a habbit and even if 20-30% users make it a habbit these card companies benifit and you fall into trap. For all bill pay, online purchase etc that author is talking abt we also have internet banking or debit cards. So why credit ? Yes there may be some rewards and cashbacks but very few are straight fwd most of them actually encourage you to spend to get the mentioned benifits

Why pay R30 for every R100 borrowed? Pay back the R100 in time ... that's it... live happily ...
And if you can't pay back the R100 in time, don't use or own a credit card at all .. you don't deserve it.

by RAJPUTSruleTHEworld on Jul 14, 2010 07:13 PM

I just buy my necessity things from my credit card and pay my bills on time. I have not given a single rupee extra as penalty or interest. I don't have to use money just one plastic money. Easy to carry. And side by side I am taking points too soon I will get one dig cam free on reimbursing my points. Hurrayyy!!

Its a lot of convinience
by Jitesh Agrawal on Jul 14, 2010 04:36 PM  | Hide replies

CC give lot of convinience but one has to be sound in his financial dealings and careful in handling it. Its not for the people who think that CC is free lunch wherein you buy on it and dont have to pay.

I have been using 3 CC for last 6 years, havent paid a single paise towards interest or penal charges. I know what can I spend and dont indulge in impulsive buying/ spending.

Rightly said about CC as a boon
by Shashidhar S on Jul 14, 2010 10:55 AM  | Hide replies

I have been using my credit cards very carefully and have earned a lot of reward points which when redeemed on i-mint have fetched good items. More than anything, CC brings lot of convenience. To avoid risk of misplacement or theft, I carry a very lower credit limit (negotiated with the bank)in my valet.

People please be aware of this push by credit card companies to market their products.

The name "Credit" itself should make you stop and think about it.

Our fathers and fore-fathers were not idiots who stayed away from Credit.

It is quick sand.

We have seen what happened in the US.

Credit card is a convenience. No doubt. But that convenience comes at a HUGE price. A change in ur spending habbit.

You will end up spending more money than if you were paying cash. Also, you will end up living on a month to month basis.

Credit card do NOT increase you buying power. They make spending money more easy.

These rewards programs are just not worth it. You will save more money by staying away from credit cards.

I have not used personal CC for years. I have one from my company and is used for all company related expenses.

What I did a before and after comparison of my spending habits, I spent 23% less when I used cash. (Monthly discretionary spending).

Credit cards may seem fashionable. But it is all hollow.

Remember...CASH is KING.

Good reply. Even i have used the credit card from last 4 years, but now i have realised that the interest amount i have paid is more than the amount i have spended. So guys pls. dont fall prey in to credit card well. Spend using cash or debit card but not credit card. "Jiyo sar utha ke"......

Dear Mr. Imran,

CC is not at all a fashionable. It will become a very much necessity. I have experienced the same when my mom was ailing as a cancer patient. Her medicine bill was as high as about Rs.95,000 that I could not imagine to manage in Mumbai, 2000 kms away from my native place. But CC helped me. Later, off course, I borrowed money from my friends and relatives to clear the dues in order to avoid the penal interest. I am very mych thankful to HDFC Bank in this regard for their quality services.
