These statistics inferred from students from some of the major metros of our country are really disheartening. In fact acquiring soft skills should be part of our academic curricula or pedagogy. We have to develop this culture in our educational institutions. j.s.virdi
The basic academic qualification, technical knowledge, logical reasonimg, skill with numbers etc give the students entry to a career. the soft skills only makes them upwardly mobile.
Successful managers possess them and in addition the skills necessary to draw the crowd (bosses, subordinates, competitors and customers) to their line of thinking with communication, presentation, decision-making, motivation and a good attitude.
The educational institutions do less help to the student community in this regard. The students with natural flair and or who are brought up in groups accustomed to practicing such skills catch the limelight in the educational institutions. The teaching community takes such students to their womb and cultivate them further for additional success. The less gifted students look at them with awe and and get despaired.
Whereas they, the teaching community should pay more attention on the less privileged and tell them that the skills can be acquired by practice and study and provide them with ample facilities.
most of the colleges fail in this respect. where they fail, the private initiative come to the help.
