where there is will, there is way.

Introducing grades will indeed help students. Further, by introducing assessments during admissions, students can get enrolled in their respective fields based on their aptitude and interest. This will reduce unhealthy competition and help prevent making wrong career choices.

IT IS REALLY BIG JOB TO CHANGE ANYTHING. EDUCATION SYSTEM MARKS OR GRADE SUCIDE WILL BE
ALWAYS THERE. NOW IT PRESSURE OF MARKS THEN IS
IS PRESSURE OF GRADE. THEM ALL STUDENT OF SAME
GRADE/LOW GRADE WILL FIGHT FOR A SEAT IN HIGHER/ TECHANICAL COURSE. WHAT IS THE USE OF
GRADE IF ALL THE COURSE OR ALL THE UNIVERSITY
OPEN THEIR ENTERENCE.

THEN IT IS ONLY MONEY GAME. MONEY WILL PLAY A
BIG ROLE OR ADMISSION.

HOW CAN WE SAY THEN THERE IS NO SUCIDE OF
STUDENT. ALL THE LIFE ALL OF US HAVE PRESSURE
THEN HOW OF US END OUR LIFE.
WHAT IS THE % OF STUDENT END THEIR LIFE
OR WHAT IS OTHER PEOLE %.

I AM SOURE THE DIFFENCE IS NOT MUCH.
FOR THE FEW WE SHOULD NOT CHANGE ANY THINGS.
REMEBER PUNBE MATRIC/ DELHI CBSE 3=YEAR COURSE IS STILL REMBER PEOPLE. THE GAVE NATION PEFECT
EDUCATED GENTLE PERSON.

CHNAGE IS ALWAYS WELCOME BUT DO NTO TRY TO PLAY
WITH POOR CAPABLE STUDENT.

please stop this
by Prem Viswanathan on Feb 01, 2010 11:03 AM

hrd minister should know that in an overpopulated country with very limited resources, there is bound to be competition, and very tough competition even to live, let alone living a luxurious life.

if u want to scrap a merit based marks system and replace it with grade - where u may have million students on the same grade - what would be the criteria for excellence? do u want money, nepotism, connections to be the criteria for success rahter than merit? this system may be flawed, but it was worked for years and likely to work further if politicians dont 5crew it up.

Good move
by kskumar on Feb 01, 2010 11:03 AM

It is time to move on from the present " rat race " mentality where even a fraction of a mark can make or break one's career. The amount of pressure today's kids face is difficult to fathom. Why are there so many suicides among students which was not the case even 10 years back?

Our present system which puts undue stress on scholastic abilities alone is totally unrealistic. Even if a student excels in other fields, he is out in the cold in the final reckoning.

If Obama says that the America should upgrade its education to compete with India and China, it doesn't mean he is approving the " rat race " system which is in force here. Upgrading the syllabi is different from adopting the marks system.

The premier education institutions can have their own entrance exams (which they do even now) to select students and so admission to higher education institutions is not a problem if grading is adopted.

Sibal is doing a good job, all luck to him.

Pass all the students. make Indian education system a garbage bin.
Life is a challange we must teach students how to take challange not to quit.
Schools must make their environment stress free rather that making students fools.

Grading System will add to confusion
by Vaibhav on Feb 01, 2010 10:53 AM

The move will mean adding more to the confusion the dept has already created. Also, grades 91-100 means A and 81-90 means A then if a student gets 90%, only for 1% should his grade be put in A. This will be more stressful to the students.
