Our tax system is defective, it does not provide uniform level playing field to tax payers. An attempt is made to improve it in direct tax laws to be effective from 1.4.11, but caters to govt. servants need more. Actually, everything must be covered in income catergorey, no allowance and Govt. must declare Rs. 5 lacs as no tax, over and above 5 lacs, taxes are to be levied. Tax laws are to be made as simple as anyone can fill his return without any assistance upto Rs.12 lacs income at least.
