Half Marathon - My experience
by Running on Jan 08, 2010 10:34 AM

Guys

Recently I had participated and completed a half marathon with about 60-70 days of training in Hyderabad. Nothing intensive. Before running I trained for another two months by walking regularly for an hour or more. I am 44 and was weighing 80Kgs. I lost about 5-6 Kgs during that time. I completed the half marathon in two hours and forty minutes.

Training schedule was like thi: Run 30 mins on day one, keep increasing it to upto 80 minutes gradually over a week. Set my own pace and stick to it and complete the run. No cheating and cutting corners.

A few tips that I learned from my coach are:
1. Before the race have a biggish coffee. Yes COFFEE.
2. Use a spray on your legs half an hour before the race with the track suit on. Remove the track suit before the race. You will feel very very warm and tingling at that time. This is really helpful.
3.If possible carry a small sachet of glucose powder. Keep having mouthfuls at regular intervals.
4. Keep having little mouthfuls of water during the race to stay hydrated. Do not over drink and feel heavy which is not good.
5.During training make sure your upper body is strong. Must do a lot of pushups and abdominal work. Many will think that we are using the legs so why the other exercises. But the whole body is used for running, not only the legs.
6. Make sure the shorts and Tee shirt being worn is of good quality.Otherwise there is very chance that you will have pain due the chafing of the skin with bad shorts Tshirt

Wrong. This is a great article.

Besides, all news is first reported by Reuters and Associated Press anyway.

What this article fails to mention is that Indians should not try being a part of such misadventures.

Indian bodies are ravaged by synthetic, adulterated garbage (food) from birth.

Such strenuous activity can only reduce an already abnormally limited lifespan.
