another b-skool ranking list!
by arindam chutia on Feb 18, 2010 02:19 AM

Where is IIM Lucknow in the list?
They were sensible enough to not waste time participating in such insensible rankings. Thats why they are making huge strides towards breaking into the big 3 of India, A B and C...and even managed to place a full batch of 300plus successfully during recession while ISB graduates were left crying over their sunk investments(the real story)

'IIMs still continue to get the best students'.

It is a barely discussed fact that most of the ISB students opted for that institute only because they could not make it (or even hope to make it) through the CAT !

thou art wrong. the profile of the applicants are totally different. ISBs do not take fresh graduates unlike IIMs.

to get into ISB one need decent GMAT score, minimum 5 yrs experience and also proven leadership quality.

in short, people who apply for ISB would not bother to sit for CAT.

And neither will they come within a hundred miles of qualifying at the CAT, even if they try as hard as they can !

ISB - advanced version of IIPM
by happy apple on Feb 14, 2010 01:11 AM  | Hide replies

There is not much difference between institutes like ISB and IIPM. ISB diploma is not even a recognized qualification. How IIPM bought Indian media, ISB bought the international media (FT). I dont think it is difficult to do so, considering their links with satyam, mckinsey etc. Why is ISB rated in top 20 only by FT but not by others?

Does ISB fit in Indian Scenario
by abhilash narayan on Feb 10, 2010 06:34 PM  | Hide replies

Well there has been so much debate but what about the fact , that ISB education does not cater to Indian maarket.
IIMs were created with idealogy to educate students in Indian context. and they are doing greta job. ISB is more based on European and American business model. This Fact is duly stated in the magazine "BusinessToday" where it was also pointed out that majority of reputed firms in India did not want to hire ISb graduates as they felt that they are not fit for Indian Business scenario. As for pusblishing is concerned I agree with the fact that most of the Publishing in ISb is done by foreign faculty, so its figures are not accurate. Besides recently the BIG article in ToI stated ISb students getting 40L odd salary , which is actually in dollars, so the chap is earning just 90,000$ which is not that astronomical.

Also as in Case of IIT's it ultimatley boils down to the quality of the students, and well no need to mention who gets the cream!!1

The 40lakh salary was not dollar salary. It was for an ibank position in Mumbai.

And what makes you say that ISB grads are not employable in India. Majority of ISB grads do work in India post MBA.

I agree with vishal. You can verify the details with their website in placement section. domestic and overseas placements are clearly described there.
