Drunken driving no doubt has to be put down with a heavy hand. But who will implement the punishments suggested? Our cops? I am a tee totaler. 3 months back while coming our of a hotel where there is a bar also, I was checked by the cops. They took me to the local Govt Hospital where the duty doctor asked me to sign a form. I did so. She wrote down that I was normal - but there was a smell of alcohol. The next thing I knew was that my car was seized along with my papers and I was asked to sign a bond. Now I have received a notice from the cops asking me to present myself before the local Court and pay a fine of Rs 3000. The offence: Driving after imbibing liquor and driving in a manner that can cause injury to the general public. The point here is that existing laws are enough for all these offences. What is needed is a different agency to take care of this. Our notorious cops will just get another handle to rip us off if they are given more of such powers.

you are absolutely right my suggestion is if the cop is found guility of such acts than he should be fined for 50000 rs and his further promotions should be stopped for whole service and even president of india should not have the power to forgive him

The Destiny of Someone due to a Drunk Driver.....(something think about it.....you will NEVER forget these pictures.
This girl appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show
This is Jacqueline Saburido on September 19, 1999.
This is she and her Father, 1998.
This is she on Vacation in Venezuela.
Birthday party as a child.
At a party with friends.
The car in which Jacqueline traveled. She was hit by another car that was driven by a 17-year old male student on his way home after a couple of hard packs of beer with his friends. This was in December 1999.
After the accident Jacqueline has needed over 40 operations.
Jacqueline was caught in the burning car and her body was heavily burnt during around 45 seconds.
With her Father, 2000.
Getting treatment.
Three months after accident.
Without a left eyelid Jacquie needs eye drops to keep her vision.
Now 20 year old, he cannot forgive himself for driving drunk on that night three years ago.
He's aware of devastating Jacqueline Saburidos life.
Not everyone who gets hit with a car dies. This picture was taken 4 years after the accident and the doctors are still working on Jacqueline, whose body was covered with 60% severe burnings.
Please send this to as many people as you can to make them aware of the consequences of dru nk driving.
Studies show that talking on mobile phones and driving is considered worse than drunk driving. This amounts to killing people with your instincts intact. Having said that remember the combination of alcohol and drunk driving which in all probability the lady in question must have been in. Confiscate the vehicles and auction it as is the practice in some countries and of course cancel and jam the cell phones to offenders who are caught,

auction it .....of course it can go to a scrap-dealer...and get peanuts...can it compensate anyone?
We know that In our country regulation leads to more power to bureaucrats, this leads to more corruption. History says that before British came to india, alcohol was consumed by only the elites, common public used to loath Alcohol. British introduced alcohol to public achieve there mean goals. After our independence all govts continued with the British alcohol tool and media promoting it. Now the news channels are also promoting alcohol, night club culture. Just few decades back people used to be at home by evening. The drunk driving is the side effect of mass westernization of our society. Now unless we get back to our roots, we will keep seeing the side-effects of the unwanted western culture. ofcourse west culture is not be blamed as it has lot of good things, but we only imported there alcohol , drug culture.

I agree to your comments. I have seen this motive by police in B'lore. Some change has happened in recent times, now cops don't stop you other than on suspicious grounds
Can't help but put in my 2 cents here. I've driven through the worst possible roads(in terms of crowd/condition) all doped up and filled to the brim with booze. I've never managed to run over a street dog, let alone a human soul. Leads me to think, it's not so much the alcohol as the driver who's responsible. But since we cannot have a yardstick for measuring who's safer on the helm while sozzled, my humble suggestion for would be drunk drivers is to be aware of the moment before impact and finish up the bottle just before you hit. Ure gonna get s c r e we d anyway. Might as well, finish it... Another suggestion would be to drive in the area where politicians live, or where corrupt police officers live. If ure gonna run over someone, why not increase the odds of running of someone for the benefit of society!!
Drunk drivers whould be given more-n-more to drink, until they say enough-I-cant-take anymore... By this time they would have got sick of drinking... Anything within limits is nice and pleasurable.
