From Apple's point of view, it didn't have to spend too much extra money in R&D for developing the iPad because it was already doing that for iPhone 4.
With minimum R&D costs, and with sales of 3 Million in the first 3 months, the iPad is a hit for Apple !
It may not be as huge a hit as iPhone but that is only because it caters to a much smaller market.
Apple has a brand image. But, use of its products come with their own set of disadvantages. First, servicing is a problem. Small issues like changing the battery is a nightmare.
Issues with Ipod, the "trend setter" for listening to Music, are complicated. First, you need itunes to sync. Itunes itself is pretty complicated. Here too changing the battery when required is a major issue. Then, if the Music in your HDD crashes, you have a serious problem.
Yet, Mac carries so much of a support among users. It is amazing!!!!
iPad has failed to deliver, period. With any tablet, you expect to multitask, which is not there...Just to appear 'cool' and different people may buy Apple iPad, but for cost and value driven buyers, this one is a strict no... Instead, I can buy a BB Curve/N97/Samsung Omnia or a Cool Netbook..and take a british council library subscription...lol..
