Sheer wasteful expenditure on marriages by Indians, heavily disproportionate to their incomes, is one of the main causes of India being one of the poorest countries in the world.

According to Indian customs, we marry only once and we should do it in a special and memorable way. But spending on marriages is not all advisable. We can do it simple and memorable!

apart from generating employment for others .. which I think is a side effect, it is a personal choice as well and a matter of what is important to people. No one is forcing people to spend on marriage. They are spending because it gives THEM satisfaction. Pure economics

It's your personal opinion. People want to do it differently and you should respect it.
