there is only one solution.....go and become rich maria and stop complaining. The poor girl should be let away
place cops outside pubs.... what a si-ll-y suggestion... cops have better things to do.. PUNISH THESE BAS==TARDS RIGOUROUSLY SO THAT EVERYONE IN THE PARTY TELLS EACH OTHER TO CONTROL.... or at least asks a drunkard to stay back
Achieving the result is not a herculine task since people who drink and drive are the elite class i.e. a person who owns a vehicle, educated, wealthy, mostly young and somewhat cultured. Media should take the major portion of social awareness of drunk driving and the consequences as the desired results may not be achieved by not only making the law stricter and punishments harder. Police and law enforcing authorities should be non-corrupt and punishments are meted out to the errant drivers. Every Society should display in their notice boards about the danger of drunk driving, besides public addressing by police as well as political leaders for this worthy cause. Every pubs and liquor selling outlets should clearly display posters and distribute leaflets about the consequences. Every multiplex should have a 5 minutess film on this subject exhibiting the recent accidents and its impacts on victim's families. many more similar kind of awareness on highways, and arterial roads should always remind the people about this social awareness.

The most illogical way. I am from Chandigarh and every 2nd day there is news of some truck being caught while smuggling liquor to Gujarat. National ban will also be futile as this leads to mafia.
Problem lies elsewhere. Govt nowadays encourage consumption of alcohol to increase revenue. In Chandigarh there are over 1000 wine shops with names like Spirits, World of Whisky, Get a High, Liquors, etc, all making money.
