by correct on Dec 30, 2010 10:46 AM

It is high time another company is born to beat infosys because infosys does not seem to be a good employer with good staff they just talk sweet ut by no means are cutting edge. So another nish service provider can beat them ad give better employment.

Understand Engineering to being application of scientific concepts and methods to practical needs.
The Educational curriculum has been shortened by the top decision making/governing bodies of the country from 5 years to 4 years. Obviously practical suitability of the Engineering graduates becomes a question mark?
Appreciate Governing bodies, making engineering more practical to the country's needs in all spheres of life.

Nice to read this article from Mr. Srikantan Moorthy. Really education system needs to be changed.I think this sort of activities done by the infosys not only helps in carrying out their business but also helps to make nation with better skilled people.
Can u just forward one of my suggestion to Moorthy & Infosys board that can they start a college (deemed university sort of) where there will be contemporary curriculum and the passed out students will be eventually serve infosys for some period. Pretty much like NDA.Can a do!! It will be real help for aspiring student.

IT companies should introspect themselves rather than blaming the indian education system. there is large gap between what they talk and what they implement.

Hiring a mechanical or civil engineer to perform IT services, and then saying they are not trained enough is not the right approach. Yes there may be lack of IT grads, but a person who has studied machines or structures, chemicals throughout his/her engineering and hired by IT cos definitely needs training to perform that job. Unfair to say that they are not well trained.

With due respect to your thought, its not the background which is important IT jobs. Its the learning potential and your ability to adapt that helps. If its so then no CA/ICWA or finannce people should go to IT field. But you tell me my dear friend if finance skill is not known how IT people will make the software. So cross functional background sometime is impperative.

Dude, It is sometimes required not always.
Background is important in IT. You cant expect a Mechanical guy to catch up OOPS faster than a IT guy. He would require more time and exposure.

Plus i guess you r not very clear with your thoughts..

Todays engineering subjects do not match with Industry requirements, because engineering colleges are more or less focussing on only money making and do not care about quality of imparting technical skills through their syllibus, incompetant faculties, inexperiecned staff, voiceless students, lack of exposure toward needed technical competance all these contributing a nearly non competant talents across the country.

Mr.Gopalakrishna is very very correct. Any body who takes an Engineering Degree now a days, aspires to grab a Software job because it is easier to grab a software job with little effort than trying for other relevant job prospects available for Engineering graduates.
