Do like I do. Carry your own cutlery with you. and use what ever that is suitable at times. If served in China plate and cutlery is not order of the day Use your knife and fork. If served on a leaf then use a spoon. It is as simple as that. To eat with fingers one needs a full hand(and I do not have that my right thumb was paralyzed in an accident) so I use a spoon which also needs the use a thumb to hold spoon correctly but you can get away by not using your thumb while using a spoon. Eating with fingers a thumb is a must.
