" A Schengen visa may be obtained quite easily from a French mission in your country of residence. "

i would have slappped this author if he had said it to my face.

right now the french consulate has demandd more info from me 3 times and each time its a 6 day cycle for info to flow to and fro.

even the original 15 day estimate seems gold by the standard. i am wondering why i have to go thru so much hassle.

as for the war in europe, indians did fight in italy especially cassino.

in ww1, there were indian soldiers in france as well.

also, you can apply for Schengen visa in embassy/consulate of any Schengen country and then land in any other Schengen country without a hassle. So, if the French are giving you trouble, you may approach the German or Dutch or Italian or any other Schengenembassies.

ever heard of "reservation cancellation" ? you can book hotels online, take a print of their confirmation email, submit it with the visa application, and later cancel the reservation -- free of charge

by anirbondmitra on Aug 31, 2010 08:46 PM

the author is not aware of the tremendous contribution of Indians in WW-II. by 1945, it was enlisted 2.5million men. and indian troops fought for the british empire in Burma, SE asia, africa and sicily. Also, thousands of indians who had initially surrendered joined Netaji's I.N.A
