Reply to Gupta. Your assumptions are on a tangent. Nowhere have I stated that "my marriage has not worked". I merely quoted the observations of the Apex Court in regard to the looting of hard earned money of Husbands by wives and in-laws, through laws like IPC 498A, PWDVA, CRPC 125 etc. Your suggestions, if they can be called suggestions, could be directed to the Apex court.

Reply to Gupta. That said, if you directly assume that, for every failed marriage "there could have been problems from everyone involved" then don't you accept that counselling of both parties is the first step in every failed/difficult marriage? Why do we have such draconian laws like IPC 498A, PWDVA, CRPC 125 etc where at mere oral statement of the wife, the husband and in-laws are arrested by police and put in jail? If "there could have been problems from everyone involved, including the wife" why are the wife's words alone considered sacrosanct? Why is there no punishment in the law for wives who, for ego satisfaction, or for getting easy money, file false criminal cases? Why is it so difficult for a husband to get divorce, eventhough he be beaten, abused in a relationship, while a wife can easily get divorce?

8TH TIP
by Sreekumar Krishnapillai on Aug 30, 2010 09:59 AM  | Hide replies

Do not marry. If you marry, there are umpteen ways in which your wife and in-laws can file false criminal cases against you which would lead to a complete wipe out of your hard earned income. Supreme Court of India in Sushil Kumar Sharma Vs. Union of India (UOI) and Ors - Jul 19 2005 had coined a new word 'LEGAL TERRORISM' for such frequent instances where wives file false cases for ego satisfaction and for looting husbands' money.

Have trust in the institution of marriage. No everyone out there are going to get you. You need to put efforts in making the marriage work. Don't paint everyone with the same brush. If your marriage has not worked, then there could have been problems from everyone involved, including you. Do some introspection

Since women are given 33% reservations in education and employment their socioeconomic conditions have changed.
Judges should grant instant divorce when either of the spouse approaches court.
