Me
I was asked to forget what I knew !!
by Me on Aug 30, 2010 04:35 AM

I went for my driving classes in Dubai. The instructor was an Indian. First day, he asked me whether I have any previous experience in driving. I proudly said yes, I have an Indian license and have been driving for ten years in India. He said 'Oh God, then its going to be difficult. Pls, can you wipe out all you learned? We will start as if you are a beginner. Else it would be difficult'. I didn't understand then, but as my classes started, I realized that whatever mistakes I was making was from my driving habits in India. It took me a few tests to pass, but now I have the confidence of driving anywhere in the world.

Indian driving habits can cause a lot of accidents when you drive in the Middle East or the West, and at the same time, the poor Westerners cant drive in India. They would be scared out of their wits!!

Its people centered revolution thats needed to make indian road, footpath worth travelling. few hundred lezy govt employee cant do anything. we should make group, friend circle, association etc. to promote movement for good traffic behaviour. otherwise live in hell for 100 years.

I too belong to the same school of thought. I live in Nagpur, the Great City of Central India. I too believe that only self regulation through mass movement can bring such traffic decipline. I hear that in Sahni Singanapure(Sirdi) the houses, shops and even banks dont have doors locked. It is the self regulation that is helping in maintaining Harmony. Let us ( the Nagpurians, particularly the youth ) pledge that we will not jump the signals, that we will not drive vehicles at extraordinary speed, that we will always stop our vehicle before the zebra crossing at the signals, even is no one is using them. Let us also tell others to not to violate. This way we can make Napur Unique. Do Nagpurians pledge?

Come on let us be the FlagShip bearers in this mass movement. Send this message through SMS to atleast 5 from Nagpur.
" To make Nagpur I pledge that
1. I will not jump the signal
2. I will stop before the zebra crossing
3. I will not drive over speed
4. I will tell others to do so. "

century of driving lessons and still fumbling!
by kv raghuram on Aug 29, 2010 09:46 AM

For any beginer, wanting to learn driving is generally a difficult phase. This, in my view is due to too many things taught by the instructor, during the very early stages of the training. I believe that an individual wanting to learn driving can hope to get a better mileage, if some rudimentary know about gears, and their useage in driving is obtained through books and acquatance.

After all, driving can be perfected with experience. It is prudent to have an experienced driver by your side, though one is a qualified or certified driver, before venturing on ones own into the serious business of driving, which would turn out to be relaxing and spiritually elevating.

driving lisence in Middle east and GCC
by fight fighter on Aug 29, 2010 03:57 AM  | Hide replies

In india its very easry to get a driving lisence...i have experinced twice to get the same in middle east..one should take 40hours class and then can appear for for exams..no matter how many years of experince you have in indian roads driving..if you dont follow traffic rules you are failed...i think indian transport authority should strictly follow such rules to avoid accidents and traffic jams on roads...ask those families who lost their dear ones in accidents...drunk and drive should is banned and mumabi police has taken a good step to put for one night JAIL...it should be more strictly followed..put those guys behind bars for almost 7 days...w
