Indu not Hindu
by Arghya Bhattacharjee on Aug 14, 2010 07:58 AM  | Hide replies

Well written article. However, Chinese call the Indians as Indo/Indu...may be the writer misinterpreted it as Hindu..another thing interesting thing to watch..though Chinese claim themselves as communist and aesthetic..who will find a large number of pilgrims in Lama temple(BJ) or in the Buddhist monasteries at Hangzhou or Xian..offering prayers to Buddha

They unfortunately do Not know the huge problems in terms of society and individual mindset they are inviting by aping the west which has a highly superficial way of life.

To abandon the traditional customs is like falling into the trap of western media and hype which smartly hide the severe problems which the west has due to their extreme material culture, mechanical way of life and genocide of millions of natives(US). Add to that drugs, criminal mindset and too much sexual liberation not much is left for an individual to have a good life in the true sense.

What a bunch of hypocrites talking trash about west and then ready to enjoy most material things that the west invents. We all know that India too does not have the best of things to give to the world either. And looking at the present condition of life of an average human being in this country one can easily judge where we are heading. Try and learn something good from others rather than just trashing other peoples thoughts and their way of life.

What is the definition of western culture? Even eastern cultures so diverse, that one cannot generalize eastern culture as one group. So, what the author meant by western culture is that Chinese are trying to copy what they is Hollywood movies as a cool culture. This is not good for individuality of the people or country. Hollywood does not show the best things that is preached or practiced in west. Most of it is social issues or fictitious disasters. Copying contents of this is not healthy! This is like youngsters learning to smoke thinking that it is cool after they see their idol do it in a movie!

Inspiration from China
by palanki narayana on Aug 13, 2010 05:46 PM

The article must inspire us to emulate China. However I am afraid we will overtake China only in one matter (population explosion) if we have not already done so.

China's story is inspiring, once upon a time India also gave many things to the world including China. There were days when everybody was looking towords India for progressive thoughts.
Now it is up to us to consider our history for inspiration and knowledge for development.Present generation needs strong leadership qualities, vision, immagination and planning to bring the past glory to this country.
