Does any one know how to block the SMS from the service provider itself. I have post paid connection from airtel and starting from last week of the month till the next month's first week, I get 7 to 8 SMS regarding month's bill. One that says that bill is generated, other one to say that bill has been sent to my email address, third one to mention the password I need to open the bill, etc, etc. I have ECS for bill payment and I again get messages that say that I should have the balance in my account, that the bill has been presented to bank and finally the bill has been paid!! I approached their customer support as well as nodal officer, but they say they cannot stop this and the only option they suggest is to switch over to some other service provider!!

In UK it is just as bad, calls come from call centers in India. Solution One. Tell them politly that you don't buy or sell anything on phone. You got my phone so you must have my address (don't givee your address) so post the information to me. Then cut off. mark the number so that ypu know who it is from,I mark them as CC1.CC2 etc (Cold Call)as that are known in UK. Second solution. If the calls keep on coming from same caller Swear at them so badly they will threaten you for using abusive language so swear more and tell them go and do what you like. Third solution (if it is near you) Keep a high pitch and aloud sound generator such as a cycle horn (the type that has a rubber all to squeeze is best). Just blow that in the mouthpiece that will burst the callers ears. If one is not available just scream loudly. with luck he/she will not phone back again. It has worked with me. Good Luck
The problem is more severe with unwanted SMSs.They eat you phone memory. You can not reply them. Neither you can block them. Even the service providers are helpless. The only option to get in touch with the sender is to send a business SMS costing you Rs. 3/ to 5 each. If somebody has a solution, please share here.
In Trafic Signal movie, they have shown how a Local Goon surprised with these telecaller calls. He was surprised to know how they got his number, which cops does not have. The local goon calls the two executive home nicely and beat them hard over their underwear. I was laughing all over seeing the treatment given to those bank executives.
