Being in the field of HR placements, I have come across many hilarious and sometimes very disturbing situations while going through CVs of candidates. Some examples:
1. Typing "carrier" in place of "career"
2. Typing "martial status" instead of "marital status"
3. Giving very general description of job roles like study of market, new product launch, client relationship management, achieving targets, leading a team etc. without ever bothering to mention the products dealt, geographical area covered etc. which are vital for consultants / employers to zero in on the right candidate.
4. Misuse of the "Career objective" phrase by writing general things again (like "seeking to work in a hitech corporate environment" etc etc). Something like "seeking an entry level position in accounts / finance" or "looking for middle management level responsibilities in sales / marketing of FMCG products" conveys the objective much better.
One can go on. I wish the job seekers spend some quality time in writing, editing and fine tuning their CVs and get better results for themselves and help the employers too.

Most concrete inputs.( After a long time on rediff ! ).Thank you , Orient Mystique . Please give more examples & suggestions . These are genuinely useful .
I will write a Biography before I die and present it as my CV to Yamaraja when I am dead! Happy? Employers should verify claims in work experience section. We want to verify them too, if they are good employers.
I am not sure, where these experts come from? Most of the time these guys are talking about high paying top position jobs where the person needs to have experience of saving bottom line, making big money, saving clients that were leaving! What about normal or not so normal jobs? They don't exist for these guys. Let's say there is a very good Programmer looking for a job - how any of these suggestions apply to that progammer? or a construction worker, an office assitant, a team leader, even a HR manager. Most of the positions don't directly influence the bottom line or revenue generating. That doesn't mean those workers don't have good skills. Also, lets say if 15/20 people are applying for a position and most of them follow these suggestions, how the hell will it make any difference. And after all this what works is having connections who can get you an interview. Now go figure! STUPID!

The fact that the above is not applicable to you, doesnt mean that it would not be useful to others.
In my very first job i was just a programmer but i was able to save my company when our, biggest client HP was threatening to stop buying our product. I able to convince them by buying time, trouble shooting the problem and improving the through put of our product. I am talking about millions of dollars in revenue that followed because of the partnership.

congratulations on your success. You must have been in direct contact with the client when you did that and you were operating in a different role when you helped the client. My point is most of the normal jobs are not about individual heroics. And cases like yours stand out as exceptions. you cannot make suggestions based on that.
