health insurance for a 2 month old
by Ipsita S on Apr 24, 2010 10:48 PM

Parents are already covered under a health insurance floater policy. The 2 month old baby cannot be added to this policy. Is it possible to get a standalone health insurance policy for this baby?

it would be better if you consider taking individual policies rather than a floater. the reason is that if one person is taken seriously ill, it may exhaust the entire limit of the floater policy and then the rest of the family remains without insurance. However, if there are constraints then you can opt for a floater. National is good, so is United India. you may want to look at the policies of Apollo Munich or Bajaj to take an informed decision.

Migration of Policies from Company to Company
by MANJUNATH S SALIGRAM on Apr 20, 2010 11:25 AM

There is always confusion in selecting the Health Cover as the terms/scope of policy is not similar in relation to the premium charged. Very often changes are happening and difficult to keep a track. While taking the policy the coverage, price etc may be very good but after one/two years the policy terms are being changed taking reference to the loss ratio etc., The customer/insured is compelled to continue the policy with the same insurer at extra cost (without his fault or even without he claiming any loss) as certain benefits like waiver of preexisting after 4 years of insurance etc., will have to be lost if shifted to some other company. Migration of policy from company to company at the time of renewal should be brought by allowing the general benefits of the previous policies.
