Vocational courses
by Sudhakar Alur on Apr 13, 2010 01:11 PM

Well, many of my friends have suggested about the vocational courses that are in vogue to choose before the pre-degree and post-degree periods.
However, if the vocational subject is introduced from very early stage in the primary/secondary education levels,by the time the students drop out from higher education, would have acquired good knowledge of the vocation they want to take up for their future.

This sort of vocational education at primary level, brings out vocation enabled persons out of the education at any point of time. They will be full of confidence and never ever make them seeker of employment but make them starters of their own vocation and in fact make them employment generators.

This is fit answer for the unemployment that is evergrowing with the age.

Vocational Courses

The courses outlines by you are tip of iceberg. There are many engineering and miscellaneous technical trades which can be learnt by those who believe in education which is not necessary taking a degree or Diploma.Computer Operator,Driver,House Keeper,Conservancy workers,Gardener,Land scape architecture,Motor Mechanic, electricians,Plumber,Carpenter,Handicraft worker,Watch man,Escort,Hospital/Health visitor,Massager,Accountant,Printer,Binder,Assistants for different professional eg Doctor ,Architect(Draughtman),Lawyer etc,Counsellor,Psychologist,Horticulturist,Agriculturist,Fishery tradesman,Marine Assistant(Boatman),Traffic Warden,Air condition technician are some trades that come to my mind.Gandhiji has taught us the dignity of labour and our eyes will open when these tradesman will earn more money due to their growing demands. In scouting we used to get different badges for learning different trades.A Scouts motto was be prepared.Education is basically to contribute to the society by gainful employment with dignity. It is not an opportunity to amass wealth and exploit others.A true revolution will be one in which Polytechnique education will be equated with university education. We require artisans to run the country .Not just high end professionals with no one in between.Such a situation will spell disaster for the country.Any one who is interested further can read the ILO(Intertional Labour) encyclopedia and try to understand the contribution of various workers to the society

Well said Dilip, u r absolutely right we forget the contribution of these real people behind the growth of country. Our media persons make unnecessary hype of the celebrities who are good for nothing and earn thousands of crores. And our politicians have looted our country more than the britishers. its high time now, equal importance should be given to the people whom u mentioned ans also the defence forces of India. They r the real Heroes of India !!
